Spent a year learning how to track and hunt animals and build canoes for last of the mohicans Spent time in jail researching for in the name of the father Didnt bathe whilst filming The crucible Learned to be a boxer and actually had amateur fights for his role in The Boxer When filming GONY he refused to wear a coat, caught pneumonia and would only want medicine that was available in the times when the film was set. Stayed in character the whole time he filmed Lincoln and even text people as Abraham Lincoln Lived away from his family in a shack for a year filming The Ballad of Jack and Rose The only man to win 3 oscars for best actor.
