The fella Jack Nicholson plays in The Departed is a brilliant gangster character. Quote
Rudy Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 FWIW is a cinematic masterpiece. It’s not a action film, or a thriller, it’s a brilliantly written mafia drama. Quote
bolton va va Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Best gangster films -didn't we have this recently ? - but anyway...2nd Goodfellas but best,Godfather 2......cinematic masterpiece is a good description. Best British gangster films.....3rd, Eastern Promises, & joint best, Get Carter with Michael Caine, or The Long Good Friday. I don't really think of Sexy Beast as a gangster film or it would be in there. Quote

Yeah, i wanted to like it but couldn't get into it Gangs of New York was also hard to get into but did enjoy it in the end. Whilst i didn't particularly enjoy Mean Streets De Niro was ace in that Quote

Cheese Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) Donnie Brasco is a cracker that doesn't get mentioned as often as it should. Think I might give it another watch now actually. Edited December 14, 2020 by Cheese Quote
Steejay Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Some good filums being talked about here. IMO, Goodfellas, GF2, Untouchables top tier. GF1/3, Departed, LGF, Sexy Beast, Donnie Brasco all run close. Guy Ritchie can only wish... Quote
