we missed muamba of old, yes.

but new muamba who spends too much time in the oppositions half, not at all.

Agree totally.

Hence the 4 5 1 id play at spurs id tell him to barely cross the half way line, just sit infront of the back four, possibly kick van der vaart all over the park if hes playing in the hole (though i believe he played wide at blackburn last night)

sturridge.

Attendance: 18,971

Jesus you were 27 out on the crowd!! What's saturdays lottery numbers?

As folk have said we just needed a win and we got it so nothing else really matters thought the overall performance was better than in past coupld of weeks we actually created more than it looked live having watched MOTD thought we defended resolutely and never looked really troubled but Doyle gave Cahill a proper test for me - M Davies too quiet for long spells missed Muamba winning second balls Elmo back to his enigmatic best he was flipping awful he really needs to fucking man up a bit that lad and Moreno gave it away every bloody time and damn nearly cost us when they hit the post - chungy showed some proper class didn';t realise he has such an influence on us credit to him......but 3 points and the double over wolves happy days

We needed the result and the points, table looks a lot different now than it could have.

Spurs is a freebie so can go there and play, keep it tight early and build from there.

Very fortunate to get all three points in the end. I thought the finish for the goal was clinical, something we were sadly lacking throughout the team all game.

Elmander was woeful. He has also adopted a variation on the Nolan point, the Elmander thumb. After yet another long aimless ball bounces out of touch for goal kick/throw in, he sets off on a half sprint stops turns back thumb aloft, "well done lads another aimless ball over the top I had no intention of running after but want to show I made a bit of an effort to get there". It does my head in!!

skd was worse, FAR worse

Nice to put some daylight between ourselves and the donkey whippers.

(Work with loads of 'em,been a right pain at times.)

Always impressed with Kevin Doyle when I see him.

Is he good just against us?

And does anybody think he'd be a good addition to the team if Wolves drop and he wanted away?

Elmander appears to have lost his Midas touch but I don't understand this notion that he doesn't work hard - the lad puts an awful lot of running in

skd was worse, FAR worse

SKD had two men marking him and twatting him every time he went near the ball. Elmander twatted himself. He is on the floor so much its unreal.

If he tries so hard, he's awfully shit.

correct, he runs himself into the ground. then when he cant possible run anymore, he gets stick for not running.

coyle didnt help him by putting him on the wing.

the service was also complete shite for elmo as it was for skd.

both strikers were terrible, but the double standard amongst fans are comical

I'd agree too easy to forget what Elmo has done this year, he aint going to show patches of brilliance every week but he just needs to show more conviction and belief and be a bit less "nice" show us the odd grimace and give defenders a tougher time

Somebody needs to remind Davies that he's supposed to jump to win headers.

Well fook me, that was awful

Glad the tickets were freebies as the thought of shelling out to watch any more after the wigan and chelsea games would have finished me off

The front two need to sit some games out, slow, cumbersome, they've lost their way

Sturridge has got to come into it, but he must have thought christ what am i doing here for the 20 mins or so he was on the pitch

I like Rodrigo but he has a lot to learn, i do think he's almost too quick in thought for some of our players

Theres no real leader on the park to galvanise them and get them going, they all seem to be waiting for someone to inspire them

I like Holden and like Davies but not sure if that partnership works

He definately doesn't look as bothered anymore. Didn't go last night, but against Wigan & Chelsea some of his half-arsed toe pokes (one of which led to a goal) where unacceptable. He hasn't been booked for a while either has he? Wonder if they are related.

Hallelujah!

Aside from the miskick from the edge of the box I didn't think he did much wrong in front of goal either. Cracking save from Hennessey in the first half and unlucky with the bounce of the ball when he forced a chance after a flick on with about 15 minutes to go.

He's one of a fair few who look a bit low on confidence at the minute but I'm sure having thousands of lardy, red faced fuckers hurling abuse at you in between bites of pie will help no end.

I thought we were fucking awful throughout, the defence was all at sea, Cahill and Knight go together like oil and water, only the fact Wolves are really shit saved us. Sturridge showed more quality and willing than Elmander has in 4 years, that's why he's at Chelsea but the difference is staggering. Saved by the post, it's only 6 points from Wolves that stop us from being in at the deep end.

me too

but then I watch the "highlights"

and we look alright and prob deserved it

I know they were highlights but still

we've def missed Chung

Zubar was a liability throughout, surprised it took so long to get Moreno on to try and exploit him with some pace

still not enough bite in the middle with Mavies/Holden

still too many players dally rather than taking control of a situation

I'd like to see Sturridge and his pace start - on the evidence of last night, it'd have to be in place of SKD

but you've prob got as much chance as us not playing 4-4-2 as SKD being dropped, no matter what

I thought Davies was better last night. He ran the channels well, his touch was better and he brought other players into the game (Chungy two or three times) far more than he has of late. They stuck two or three players on him all night and all he got was a free kick midway inside his own half.

Elmo's nowhere near as bad as he's being painted either, but I don't care which of them makes way for Sturridge.

One of them needs to, though, because he'd be a waste out wide.

Muamba has to play for me. I spent all last night watching how massively overrun we were getting in midfield, and by average players. I think both Holden and Davies are tidy players, real footballers, but their challenges are mostly weak, and we hardly ever won possession back or broke up their game. If he's going to persist with 4-4-2 (and I think we know he will) then those two don't have a strong enough physical presence to compete, and we're conceding too much ground to be competitive and to control the game.

There's a lot of "ugly" football going on at the minute but it's not the kind of ugly stuff we need...

elmander looks totally devoid of confidence again

very fragile character

but he's a different player completely when lee gets around him with the ball on the deck

and without questioning coyle again, why take davies off at the death

i'd have kept him on to defend high balls, if nowt else

just struck me as odd

Other than the lack of a ? surely you are questioning Coyle.

I dread to think what it would be like on here if we were in the bottom 4 or 5.

Half our problems are down to players lack of form and/or confidence, last night was the first step in the right direction.

You could count the number of headers Davies won last night on the fingers of Terry Nutkin's gammy hand.

Agree about the service and the double standards. The only thing that pisses me off about Elmander is he goes down too easy. Maybe he is fucked like SKD because they both looked knackered last night? Suppose thats what happens when you play the same team every match and dont freshen it up. They both look like they need a breather to me.

Cahill and Knight will never work as a combo because they both dont say a word to each other. Wheater needs to come in ASAP imo, he did more talking/leading in that Wigan game than either Kinght or Cahill has done all season. Cahill when he stepped up on Jarvis should of either took the line up with him or stayed in but he just ran out and left the man in with the full back playing him on. That was poor judgement and thats his biggest problem imo.

i dont think he goes down easily in terms of diving, i think he is physically that weak!
