14th. Worse than megsons last season. 5 defeats on a row. RElegation form since Xmas. Away form farcical. Coyle - you are not as good as you think you are.

  • now you're a bright bloke, granted you must be approaching the onset of senility, but why oh why does it always have to be llike this   folk look at what coyle has done and in some cases criticise s

I wouldn't be too sure about this. If the bid to buy QPR is successful they will be competing with Man City for the big money buys.

They will not be competing with City in the transfer market, but they could be in a position to sign players that we could not afford, that is if the owner does stump up the money, we will see.

remember when one tackled campo?? hahaha

aahhhh, its all falling into place now, completely fuck up at the end of the season and finish 14th with 46 points, then next seasons expectations are to get 47 points and finish 13th

Coyle the genius

Congratulations! You've just won the award of "The biggest cock-end in the history of Bolton Wanderers fans"!

If the season had ended 5 weeks ago, we'd have been in 8th position, with a successful cup run under our belts. Simply put, our bad patch came at the end of the season. It always feels worse when that's the case. If we'd have been in the bottom 3 all season, then got a few wins in the last month to finish 14th on 46 points we'd be all out having parties in the streets like Wigan no doubt will be!

Not ANYWHERE in this thread has it said that COYLE's opinion is that a 13th finish with 47 points is his target. That was what one contributor on here put. I have no doubts that Coyle is more annoyed with the end of the season than any one of Bolton's fans or players. Do you honestly expect him to stand in front of a camera and say "Yeah, we kinda fecked up the end of the season" rather than "We've had a successful season"? For someone who's as "in the know" as you claim to be (was it man of the match EVERY game you played?) you really don't have a clue on the most basic aspects of being involved in PROFESSIONAL football.

I know you're a new man, but could you please go and become yet ANOTHER new man, he might be a little more grounded in his opinions.

A cyber warrior won't have the bollox to front you

I think we did well not to be involved in the relegation dogfight given our lack of quality & numbers

however its going to take more than just Coyles motivational skills to keep us safe next year.

Tactically I feel Coyle is positive , sometimes too positive as a team needs real quality to attack

all comers away from home ,real quality we dont have in any sort of depth.

We shocked a few teams early doors with our positive approach away from home but as the season wore on

they sussed us out especially the relegation candidates.

Cahill & Knight have never been a good partnership in central defence , but with Cahill surely

leaving will Coyle bring in the right replacement ? its been a problem area for us but not as

much as the fullback positions which have been pretty dire .

I really think Owen will have his work cut out next season just to keep us in the Premier league

never mind finishing in the top half, simply because he won't be given the resources to sign

decent players ..........the thing is he is well aware of this & will be thinking he would be

the fall guy if things go pearshaped ,also he will be judged on the players he does bring in & so

far he is borderline at best Holden/loanees v petrov/blake/alonoso

Bad patch at the end of the season? For the majority of 2011 thus far we have been shite. In fact, we were shite in December of last year as well. Been a rollercoaster season.

If everyone can take a step back and put their handbags back in the drawer for a minute, maybe we can look at the facts.

Fact is that this was Coyle's first full season as boss. A couple of wins and more luck with injuries and we wold have been comfortable top 10. We weren't, but we had a reasonable position and the manager will now have a better idea of who can cut it or not over a full season. Expect a revolving door at the Reebok in the next three months. I think we can all see where the weak areas are, the boss will know that too. We'll be back next season without Elmander and Cahill, but hopefully with some decent talent to boost the depth of the squad.

Add to that, the first time in my lifetime that I genuinely feel confident about us having some young players coming through the system. That's going to be a big plus if we're in a similar injury-ravaged position next year.

Also the first season we haven't worried about relegation in a long time too. Once upon a time, we'd have been happy with that.

Not exactly a vintage season, but we did alright in what is still a transition period. The real test is next year, when a lot of the Megson signings get the boot - and Coyle's nouse in the transfer market really gets tested.

I really think Owen will have his work cut out next season just to keep us in the Premier league

never mind finishing in the top half,

hitting the nail on the head there.. We simply cant fund a massive team and tghe best we can hope for is mid table.. anything more than that is a bonus !

Whether he's a wind-up merchant or not, he's a prick.

Trust me matey, trying to judge folk off forum comments is a science doomed to fail. The 'prick' is one you'd choose to have shoulder to shoulder with you when the chips were down - you can take it from me.

Lighten up - it's a bit of banter to liven things up a little.

For the record, I am with the majority. An acceptable season which would all have jumped at if offered it before the season started.

Be interesting to see the comings and goings in the close season. Hoping the sale of Cahill gets us a war chest and then we'll see what OC is capable of. Having seen inspired loans of Wilshere and Sturridge and the excellent signing of Holden, I would have to say the signs are very good.

To middling, what about Petrov and Alonso who were his two biggest signings?

To be fair I hope we get some players

...and, of course, other managers get every signing bang on - no failures, let downs, ones which don't live up to expectations? Come one now - you are just looking for negatives there.

To all the OC detractors, we can always try to get Gary Megson back?

To be fair I hope we get some players

To be fair, I very much doubt I'll ever bump into you as I live over 7,000 miles away. I'm hardly gobby, I just called you out on the absolute drivel you've been serving up - it's worse than Bolton's fare over the past couple of months. All we get from you is negativity - I'm all for differences of opinions but good God you're getting dull. All I'm saying is that if you take a step back once the emotion has worn off, you can see that our season was, in the most part, very good - albeit with a squad that is paper-thin and in drastic need of a major makeover.

A top 8 position all season with a final droop in form is not bad for a team of our size. We're a small club. We always will be a small club. I very much doubt we'll ever see our beloved Bolton play in Europe again, and that's not down to the manager or the players, it's down to the fact that there are a lot of bigger, better and stronger teams in the league than us. We are not dissimilar to West Brom, Birmingham, Blackburn and Fulham in size. All of which (excepting Birmingham of course) are within 3 points either way of us at the end of the season - that sounds about right to me. What OC has done is to raise the profile of Bolton Wanderers and show the world that we CAN be more than just the kick-and-rush team of recent times. By getting loan signings of Jack Wilshere and Daniel Sturridge over the past two seasons he has proven this is the case.

We're in a transition phase, and fans that DEMAND success beyond means do not help push the club forwards. A good cup run is the best hope of silverware we have at a club like ours, and that can come with a cost - ask Birmingham fans. We need to get behind the team in ALL circumstances. I bet you left the Wembley game early. I stayed until the final whistle, turned to the Stoke fans and applauded them - they backed their team for the full 90 minutes, and would have if they had been beaten as well. I wanted to do the same.

Also, how can you hold Jussi responsible for conceding a goal off the BACK of an opposition player's head? If the attacker doesn't know where it's going, how the hell is Jussi supposed to figure it out?

See, no name calling in this one, just pointing out a few home truths - and sometimes the truth hurts.

So you're making all your assumptions by watching television 7000 miles away. Sorry my mistake, watching it in real life must be different seeing Everything especially what happens off the ball too is really clouding my judgement. Maybe I should stop goin home and away then I will think we are better than barcelona
