Whelan is a fucking cunt. Even if he offers 4m tell him 5m, the guy is an arsehole.

  • I'd rather sell him to Villa for ?3.75m than to Wigan for ?4m.

Fair enough. Are we going to spend that money then?

Anyway, the future's bright & orange! :D

... and Jussi is signing a two year extension.

Definately not renewing now

:D

It was always goin to happen. Extra 4m for transfer kitty

:(

A mistake in my opinion.

Gutted he's going but Owen Coyle knows a lot more about football than I do, I'm sure it's for the best.

We have 3 keepers with only one with any value. The other 2 are good enough so in a business sense it's a no brainer to get money for him

I would have made him number 1 next season and we should hold out for more money than 4m

Agreed. He had a better season than Jaaskalainen and should be our number one.

Did he?

Goals against for us 56

wigan goals against 61

If you watch every goal both keepers conceded as well id say al habsi was at fault for a similar amount if not more than jussi. I think people are just making jussi their scapegoat, it will probably be somebody else next season.

He obviously had a better season and was voted their player of the year

10 of those Wigan goals were in the first two matches of the season that Kirkland played in.

ok well then take the ten off that kirkland conceeded and then take off the 8 Bogdan conceeded jussi still wins and has a higher percentage save ratio

habsi wins on player of the year trophies i'll give you that.

Its open to open to opinion about who the best keeper is.

exactly, :good:

I reckon there's little to choose between JJ and AAH. They're both decent enough PL keepers, without being world beaters.

We can't keep both happy, we need money to strengthen elsewhere and we can't get ?4m for Jussi.

Therefore, it's a no brainer to me: sell Al Habsi.

I tend to agree with all of that, I don't see a great deal of differenc ebetween the two keepers, so why not cash in now whilst we can still get something for AAH

Al Habsi would be third choice keeper at Bolton. He is behind both Jussi and Bogdan (ooh missus). That is why he was sent out on loan last season, he was surplus to requirements. And let's not forget that we have Lainton coming through also.

It's nuts to say he'd be behind Bogdan.

As I said on the other thread, he was sent out because 1.) he's at a stage of his career where he (and us) needed to see if he can hack playing week-in, week-out and 2) we also got a loan fee from Wigan.

No other PL team would've taken Bogdan and made him first choice 'keeper.

We're in a very fortunate position to have such an array of good goalkeepers, but in order to keep them all happy one of them has to go. IMO the only reason that Al Habsi is going is because he's the only 'keeper we've got that anyone will pay decent money for.

I'll see your player of the year trophy and raise you an 'outstanding contribution award'

I'm sure it was said that last season, it was decided by the coaches and Jussi that Bogdan was going to be the better option for Number 2 and thus Al Habsi was sent on loan. Therefore to me, Al Habsi is behind Bogdan in the pecking order. FWIW Whenever Ive seen Bogdan play for us he has been impressive and done nothing wrong. Selling Al Habsi is the correct decision.

That is totally correct, Rich. I've given you a plus 1 for that.

Now get back to your PE teacher and put that rubber on.

Unless, of course, it was a decision made on the fact that AAH was never going to bide his time for yet another season getting splinters in his arse on the bench. Was the decision made on playing ability or on Bogdan being happy to stay as understudy to Jussi?
