reet after last weeks episode of dodgy lager in the local, this fathers day evening i was out supping any other ale i could find.

 

think i had speckled hen, ferret, cumberland and sommit the FIL ordered, dark?

 

anyway, a couple of each and next day, right as rain.

 

and i actually enjoyed each and every pint. flavour to ya drink, thats a new un!

 

ive done the beer festival and the rugby club last couple of years and really enjoyed the ale, but never really noticed such liquids could be consumed in my local.

 

so it seems proper ale is the future for me, bollocks to this lager and cider shite, thats fert kids.

 

what other ales should i be looking out for?

Bombardier, London Pride and Spitfire are my favourites. Also Flat Cap is always a winner if you want to keep it local.

My favs at the moment are coniston bluebird,and hopping hare, both sold in tesco and top top ale.

as well as the above, particularly hob goblin, try St Peters organic ale, can get it in Asda, I found it by "accident" in a gift pack, spot on it is.

I had a couple of pints of Ruddles bitter on Sunday, it was good and only ?1.70 a pint.

Pendle Witch and Jolly Naylor in Athy always have loads of good guest beers on

It's summer, so you want something light, something pale. Holts had a seasonal IPA on recently. A good pint and at 3.8% one you can have a few of.

Other than that, get y'self up to either of the Spinners at Adlington and give Bluebird,Hawkshead Gold, JHB or my favourite Arizona, from Phoenix Brewery in Heywood.

Words like 'blond, gold and light'- good.

Words like'smooth' - bad.

That's a third from me, good session bitter is Landlord.

 

Well kept London Pride is superb, and I like a pint of Black Sheep as well.

 

Looking forward to the Crawley beer festival this weekend with my dad, not been to a festival together for a good few years. Got the folk festival at the same time, so it's a hay nonny no from me.

Sup nowt but real ale. Aye, Jolly Nailor sure does have some tremendous ales as does the Pendle witch.

 

Has anyone done the Pendle ale trail?. Train to Manchester then change for Huddersfield where the Station has two real ale pubs with a choice of more than nine real ales plus the best of Belgian brews. From there get off the train at each stop where a pub awaits. Last stop is the Buffet bar at Stalybridge where another 6 or 7 real ales are on offer. It`s a tenner return, well it was from Atherton.

It`s a fantastic day out.

I was supping Miss Whiplash and Golden Newt in the pendle last night. Cracking, 4.1-4.2 abv and never a bad head.

 

They had Summer lightning on there again last friday, beltin' stuff but sadly it's gone by sunday night!

can't get anything decent over here, but when I get back home, I love all of the Bank Top brews, Bob Smithy's always has a great choice, loved the Old Slapper, old Fart, and Freds Cap...can't remember the name but that dark mild that they have out now is seriously delicioso...I was supping it in The Howcroft.

Wobbly Bob's a cracker but don't sup it on a Leo Sayer.
