if we're going to judge ngog against the davies of a few years back, ngog doesn't hold the ball up

then again, neither does davies - in fact, he doesn't do much

if we judge ngog against other strikers with a bit of pace and skill taht we could've bought, he measures very favourably

if 4-5-1 with ngog diodn't work, it wouldn't be down to ngog

spot on , i know we can only dream at the moment but ngog with holden and lee will be different than the ngog we are seeing now.

I just want to see Tuncay given a chance (and by chance I mean a couple of games) to play just behind N'Gog to see if the two of them can work together.

I don't ask for much.

This is the first time Coyle has been faced with adversity in his managerial career, ALL good and great managers face times like this.

Except when he left Burnley, they were dropping like a lead balloon. 5 pts from 9 games, no wins for 10.

We got him out of a hole.

Very worrying times for us all.

It's clear, he needs help with tactics and team selection. Will he be too stubborn to acknowledge this?

As many have said before If it wasn't OC (with the ex Bolton connection) in charge right now, he'd be gone. For the moment that's his only saving grace.

I agree with that but any striker needs support. Ngog has pace but we need the balls threaded through so he can use that pace. Playing balls in the air as we did to Davies is not the answer. Someone like Mark Davies between the mid 2 and Ngog would work IMO; but its all about opinions and Owen makes the decisions

Funny that because I think N'Gog holds it up very well

He's just not your typical target man so folk don't tend to notice it

I agree with you Jules, I think he holds it up superbly. Again tonight he came on and made himself time on the ball and used it well. Think he could play up top alone with a suitable attacking midfielder

Its not funny because your bang on. If you watch him he actually holds it up and gets it under control and can even actually move with the ball at his feet and lay it off. Against Sunderland he did it numerous times only not to see the ball back to him again because somebody had else had fucked it up. He must of got fouled about ten times too when keeping the ball. I think theres only one occassion where he actually lost the ball which isnt bad going imo.

The big problem we have is we arent getting the ball to him anywhere near the goal or with him facing the goal.

I was very very surprised by Ngog last night. Never rated him at all when he was at Liverpool but when he came on last night he looked excellent. His touch was very good, his runs were intelligent and he looked dangerous when he had the ball. Could be a very good signing.

A mate at work is a season ticket holder at Liverpool. Said he felt sorry for Ngog and reckons he's a decent player. They used him as a target man most of the time which he coped with well but was never really favoured by the fans because he didn't score enough.

From what I've seen he looks like one of the few intelligent footballers we have. Holds the ball up well. I think it was against Norwich, Davies won nothing in the air and the ball never stuck upfront. Ngog came on and won everything.

Are we a team decimated by injuries or is it the style of play that doesn?t suit us? Are both an excuse for poor management or under forming players?

The solutions is very difficult and I?m worried.

Whatever the solution(s) might be, we need a string of wins very soon before the reverse big-5 fixtures start in January, otherwise what confidence remains will be shredded completely.

November starts next Tuesday. The clock's ticking.
