The people who run them are nothing to do with the police, it is surprising how much you don't know/have forgot about driving safely, at the end of the day it saves you getting 3 points

Don't try and drive how you think they want you to drive. You'll learn more from getting them to point out your errors.

 

I've done one of these and it really helped my awareness of what's around me and picked up some great tips about improving my road positioning to enhance my journey rather than continuously accelerating and braking as you get too close to cars in front.

 

It's good fun. Look at it as a refresher to your driving test.

i went on one at the arena 2 weeks ago.

 

it is an eye opener as to how bad a driver you are.

 

i drive for my job , and it makes you realise how selfish/ impatient you become.

My husband went on one a couple of years ago - gosh he was dull for the weeks after, telling me loads of stats around driving accidents etc .... soon wore off (watches his speed though now!)

I know your comment is tongue in cheek but they do also explain how much more likely you are to kill someone when you drive at 35 rather than 30.

 

As meldrew talks about, average journey is about 5 miles so sticking to 30 rather than 35 gets you there about a minute later.

I used to bomb about everywhere when I was younger (although never where you'd expect kids to run out). I'd been done for the 3rd time and took the Speed Awareness Course. Since then I've calmed down loads. I rarely go above the speed limit now. I feel a lot safer and it's saving me a bomb in petrol.

Went on it today. I think everybody should go on one of these every now & then. Learned a few things, refreshed my memory about a few things I'd forgotten & I'll probably think a lot more about the way I drive now.

When I went they were lending copies to people, they certainly didn't ask me if I had a copy with me, but, would she be prepared to risk if for the sake of a couple of quid?

I do multidrop. Speeding a no no. It's more about proper load planning.
