Coyle Passion Challenge

Rules are simple, find a photo of Owen Coyle while at Bolton showing some passion during a game.

Not many around, I've found one though.

  • This player is the key difference for us this season !! I do not believe Owen Coyle has become a bad manager over night .. This situation is nothing to do with passion , we've had a lot of bad luck

It's a combination of the two which is proving a lethal cocktail.

Boyata, Wheater, Eagles, Petrov, Pratley, NRC, Ngog, Tuncay are all cards that coyle picked remember and none of them are injured.

Our biggest problem is we don't have good enough attacking players. The 4 attacking players listed there cost less combined than Elmander or Kevin Doyle.Coyle doesn't have the resources that other managers at Bolton had or our rivals now have.

Our biggest problem is undoubtedly our lack of resources

Our second is our manager

hes sat down but still looks to be showing some passion.

For the record i dont belive passion is the problem i truely belive he is hurting as much as we are but his tactics are his real error. he wont get the sack end off it tho so may as well just support him and the team.

Coyle was on the radio a while ago explaining that he didn't feel under pressure because he's in a well paid industry etc...

"the bloke earning a pitance with mouths to feed etc...that's pressure" was his reply. Dead right I thought nice to hear it.

Latterly he's saying he's not concerned about losing his job etc....

While I can respect his consideration for the financial plight of many fans, he should also respect the fact that football is what keeps some of them going, a spiritual buzz at a weekend.

Somehow it's as if this approach has got to the players and they don't seem too worried about their futures either!

As it seems obvious he's not going anywhere, and now that he's taken to naming scapegoats, he needs to chop the wasters from the team and give the kids a chance- after all we'll be relying on them next year so give them some experience.

Looks more like he is constipated!

Don't think many would argue about our lack of resources, but that doesn't stop them rolling their sleeves up and having a go, showing some passion etc.

I remember Newport county coming to Burnden years ago. Totally skint, lost most of their professionals and playing YTS kids etc. We were tatering them.

The ball went out for a throwing to them. One of their kids shot off after the ball as it went down a tunnel, like a rabbit down a hole. The whole of tha Many road applauded his efforts. He didn't shrug his shoulders or show indifference- just got on with it.

If they (our players now) took a leaf out of his book I could repsect them.

think hes got a bit of what darren fletchers suffering with!

From the side that was top 6 this time last season for various reasons we've lost Taylor, Lee, Holden, Ricketts and arguably more importantly Elmander and his goals.

Robinson, Jussi and Kevin Davies are showing signs of age catching up with them.

It's Coyles job to replace them and he hasn't done so.

There isn't a Premier League team in the group of available players

coyle says there is - they just can't be arsed

if they can't be arsed, the buck stops with coyle

if they can be arsed and he can't get em to function as a team, thats a whole different scenario

its either theyre badly organised or not good enough

coyle reckons they are good enough

so, i really don't get it

how can anybody defend him

maybe he's just not a good judge of a player, eh?

the case for him being shit is stacking up

Aye, but not so easy to do when you get given ?4m to spend on a striker, almost the same as previous manager got to spend on a right back, along with ?5m on a midfielder, ?8m (conservative estimate) on a striker. And by given we of course mean, sell other players to finance it whilst evidently chopping the wage bill. Coyle looks suspect tactically at the moment but seems harsh to say he should be replacing all those players on a shoe string.

Don't start!!

How do you know he spent all he was given?

I seem to recall an offer for SWP for example....

but the full back and the midfielder are still at the club so don't need buying again

he bought his own striker and doesn't play him!

taylor went cos he bought 'better'

passion isn't an issue, addressing reoccurring problems is, and having no in-game plan b wont help

He brought in 2 strikers and doesn't play either of them.

plan A would be a start

aye that as well.

come on, i know you do a bit

what do you think about how we play

assuming the players aren't either - all shite or all sulking

what are we doing wrong

what makes us so vulnerable defensively

They play ping pong all week.

They do plenty of 5 a side matches for skill on the ball.

We cant defend because we dont spend enough time working on defending as a unit without the ball etc or team shape in training.

You watch our defenders, they are never even stood in the right place defensively. Our midfielders always seem to get caught on the wrong side of their man time after time but the problem still doesnt get addressed.

Definately stands to reason that if out opponents spend more time learning to attack us than we do trying to defend them, they'll come out on top.

Dear Mr Coyle, don't you get this?

I do not believe Owen Coyle has become a bad manager over night ..

Were you at Wembley then?

Thet dont play ping pong all week - infact many go home straight after training

They dont play 5 a side for 'skill work'- skill practices usually involve games such as 4v4 with 4 outside support players for example.

They dont often play to goal - more keeping possesion activities with end zones or target players.

On occasions they play 8v8 with condtions.

Very rarely do they practice a function or phase of play (tactical / unit elements of attacking or defensive principles)

Anybody still wearing rose-tinted specs re: Coyle, take note of this.

Gumbo knows the score.
