What's with the hostility to Gloria? I've looked at a fair few threads now and can't see what she's said that warrants the instant abuse. Appreciate I'm a newby here so there's obviosly some previous...can anyone care to explain? Is she an annoying troll or simply a dissident voice?

It admitted to being on a wind up mission, or attention seeking as I'd describe it. This board has been here for years, we've seen it all before. We tend to just get rid of attenion seekers for the greater good. That's our call, there are other sites for them to use. This isn't a site for kids IMO.

No problem with debate but as Carlos said folk develop an eye for people on a deliberate wind up.

 

There's a vast array of different views on here taking in footballing, musical, political and every thing in between. But we're all wanderers (except Pablo and Green Genie) so unless you're a cunt about it a difference of opinion is all part of the fun.

there are all sorts, take me for exampe, a peace loving travel club type, then you get happy wanderer running round like a dick causing havoc and slagging off the team constantly

I don't describe the site in any way really, it is what it is. To repeat, we don't need anyone who is here soley for the attention. Over the years we've seen it all. Gloria has come from another site (Burnden Aces) for reasons other than joining in the debate. It's transparent. Copying and pasting posts between sites isn't participating. And ultimately as I said before, it's a site for grown ups.

 

The fact that seeing how people react to someone on a wind up mission put other potentially decent posters off enforces my view we should get rid of the trolls ASAP.

Many of you will know me best as the lady whose forthright yet well-balanced views on Burnden Aces reinstated many people's faith in the female race's ability to talk football, after years of Fannyrash Whittam striking repetitive blows for women everywhere.

 

It occurred to me the other day that there's no reason my talents couldn't be put to good use on both sites.

My USP as a poster is that I'm consistent. It takes a bad result for everyone on these sites to think it reasonable for a poster to slag our game off, when actually there are flaws in every winning side and they have to be addressed in order for the club to continue winning games. I don't allow my views to be swayed by results, and I don't allow this strange view held by many that we should write positive for as long as results are positive stop me reporting on things exactly how I see them.

My first impression was that this person was here on a wind-up mission from Burnden Aces. I wasn't wrong.

As has been stated already, it isn't the content of his (we've now decided she's a he) posts but the need for him to pretend to be a woman and that bloody sign-off at the end of every post. Go on Burnden Aces and he posts exactly the same there as he does here.

I think if you'd been around longer you'd get it. One day, in the not to distant future, you'll get to see it all play out again. Glorious Tits wasn't the first poster from a different site to come on here shouting "Listen to me, my opinion is the only one you need heed."

Don't let the culling of Glorious Tits put you off posting.

I'm no troll nor have any connection with any site - though I do recall back in the 90s being on a BWFC site for a while - can't remember it's name though - Manny road comes to mind - I do remember a split at the time - perhaps there's a connection here - maybe this site and it's twin "burnden aces" were born out of that schism?

 

Whatever - I'm buoyed by some of the posts on this thread - I like the points about being an adult site, hostile to attention seekers, open to all shades etc etc - so looking forward to sharing thoughts in the coming weeks/months.

 

PS: I first heard of this site in a bar in Madrid after the Atletico game - a family from Bolton had moved there, had been to the game and we enjoyed more than the odd cerveza and it was the mother who mentioned this site and that travel and tickets were organised via here....that's why I joined then ( I remember now!)

There are several BWFC forums, you just have a root around and see which takes your fancy.
