birch-chorley Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Please don't say the media interviewed that clown. I thought/hoped he'd stopped going. I thought he was in exile in the west lower, not seen him away for ages. I only know him from going on Wanderers when he went away every week but he is a nice enough lad. Funniest thing I ever heard was when he went to court for jumping a red light and got sent down for 6 weeks for tampering with the jury (true story). He doesnt know when to shut up I think. Quote
Mona Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I don't know what the rest of you think, but putting our season behind us, and comments where we have all had a chip at various BWFC players, squad etc, (me included),how wonderful that the stalwarts of our club have pulled together SKD has been an ambassador , like the elder statesman , OC has displayed more dignity and compassion than I thought any football manager capable of, and Garty has been totally choked by it. I have never felt so proud to be Wanderer, and I have never felt such an affinity to another club or club's player as I have now C. Ronaldo was one of the first to say today we are all Wanderers, and I always thought he was a plank! H.Webb, one of my 'don't want him as ref'... Top man! Tottenham, always detested the spuds , but cheers to them all, supporters and players and staff alike !! Quote
Gonk Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 regarding Howard Webb. my concern here is that the trifecta will need to be rebalanced, and he will need to be placed in the pantheon with Uriah Rennie & Mark Halsey. Quote
Mona Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Jeez, are you reading my mind Uriah was the best ref ever IMO, And Halsey just a shame he's our 'kept ref' as he's the best in the business currently Quote
steventhfc Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Who's refered to as turkey head may I ask? Quote
wovlad Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Unbelievable to believe the 'improving' condition the lad is in given the scenes people witnessed on the WHL pitch last Saturday. I didn't I was listening on the radio and I'm glad i didn't witness it. Was talking to friend on Sunday night he'd been to the game & described what he witnessed as the most distressing he'd ever seen. To hear that he is not only conscious but able to talk is nothing short of miraculous. The medics have stressed that's its very early in the process, but it does gives us increased hope that he can survive this. Come on Muamba, you can do it lad. Quote
Site Supporter MickyD Posted March 20, 2012 Site Supporter Posted March 20, 2012 Who's refered to as turkey head may I ask? It was a lad who likes to wear a woolly hat with a turkey head on the front and a couple of legs on the sides. Looks a cock (intended) but actually quite a good lad. Quote
no balls Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Who's refered to as turkey head may I ask? Every club has nob head fans, you lot must have one. Quote
Traf Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 regarding Howard Webb. my concern here is that the trifecta will need to be rebalanced, and he will need to be placed in the pantheon with Uriah Rennie & Mark Halsey. I've thought about it and it's a no from me. Just as Coyle's excellent handling of a sensitive situation hasn't made him a better football managers, Webb's handling of Saturday's events doesn't remove him from the C-list for his actual refereeing. Mona Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Aye, I know, I'm just emotional at the moment ! Quote
JOGLER Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Another day of improvement, keep fighting Fab! He's coming home, he's coming home, he's coming, FAB IS COMING HOME Quote

Salford Trotter Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 FABulous news, I'm so relieved he's making such fantastic progress. It's going to be a long, hard and I've no doubt that there will be lots of 'ups and downs' along the way. Let's celebrate his recovery on Saturday in our own personal way as I'm sure the club will arrange a more visual celebration. One thing that has to happen is that the Spurs home game has to be attended by those paramedic\doctors and treated like the heros they are. God bless everyone one of them Quote
Globetrotter Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 It is certainly great to see the progress that the lad is making and whilst he may not play again we can all now hope that he goes on to lead a relatively normal life. That didn't seem possible a few days ago. I was out of the country when it happened and so was removed from much of the drama (seems an inappropriate word). Since I have been back I have tracked his progress on SSN etc and I have been both emotional and uplifted by the way the football world in general has shown support for their colleague. I think most will now want the game to go ahead this weekend now so we can build on the hopefully continued good news and show our own local support for one of our own. I'm not normally a sentimental type but if he does not play again I agree with the retire the number 6 comment, seems appropriate after the events of the past 6 months. Quote
chrisw99 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I think most will now want the game to go ahead this weekend now so we can build on the hopefully continued good news and show our own local support for one of our own. Too true, 48 hours ago I was expecting Saturday was going to be one of the gloomiest matches we could possibly have had if things had stayed the same. Now he has been laughing and joking with the players, the air of gloom has lifted and it's hopefully going to be a celebratory affair instead. Given the unbelievably miraculous speed of recovery he seems to be showing, maybe he can even be on the bench and pop on and score the winner! Joking apart, I hope given this speed of recovery he'll be able to get suited up and walk on to the pitch with the players when we come out at this years FA Cup final. How Fab would that be.. Quote
Ani Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Retiring the shirt is the most ridiculous thing I think I have ever heard. Quote
TheWanderer1958 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Retiring the shirt is the most ridiculous thing I think I have ever heard. Tis chavtastic beyond belief Ani...... Ffs, what are we???? Americans???? Quote
Globetrotter Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I'm not sure how a sentimental gesture of respect can be described as 'chavtastic' - it seems to be the opposite to me but maybe I don't really understand what the word means ... I actually get the reluctance to retire shirts as in some contexts it is indeed ridiculous but at this moment it feels appropriate to me, given this awful event and the death of Speedo. Maybe I will feel differently in a few weeks or so. Quote
enzo gambaro Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 According to Wikipedia, there are eight shirts currently retired in English Football. Seven were worn by players who died when they were incumbent (the other is Bobby Moore). I'd like to see a shirt retired in circumstances I hope will never arise. Quote
