Bolton Wanderers and England under 21's midfielder Fabrice Muamba collapsed during the FA Cup quarter-final at White Hart Lane as Tottenham Hotspur hosted Bolton Wanderers.

Fabrice 23, received medical treatment while on the field of play shortly after collapsing in the 41st minute of the game. Fabrice was then rushed to hospital as the game was abandoned by match official Howard Webb after consultation with both managers Owen Coyle and Harry Redknapp.

Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Fabrice.

Update

Fabrice is stable although in a critical condition in intensive care in the Heart Attack Cente at the London Chest hospital.

Don't even know why, could of easily put a Spurs player on the back but I got an England shirt with Muamba on the back today.   Hello to you lot by the way, as you probably guessed I'm a Spurs fan!

  • Retiring the shirt is the most ridiculous thing I think I have ever heard.

A spontaneous minutes applause in the 41st minute on saturday - hopefully followed by a spontaneous roar when goal number 3 goes in shortly after

"I try"

fookin hell, I've been emotional reading articles all week but that's a jerker.

Brilliant that isn't it. What a fucking guy. Come on Fab!

I am just staggered by his recovery. I'm not a religious person but I genuinely believe, with the chain of events, a heart specialist in the ground etc, that fabrice is blessed and we are very very lucky that he is still with us. I have been an emotional reck this week and can't wait to have a massive release at the reebok on Saturday. I just hope that the players feel the same as the fans and Saturday doesn't end in disappointment

Youri wore 6, didn't he?

yep, and his music career coincidentally died on it's arse

I'd happily join in with that if we could get it going Saturday.

78 minutes seems a long time, how long do doctors continue before they say they've done/tried all they could?

It's amazing to think that after so long of failed attempts to bring him back to life, it started again almost after a hour n' half, I never thought someone could be 'gone' for that long and suddenly come back alive.

Just made it a bit more accurate. Like it though Ryan.....like it a lot.

Although he was 'gone' the quality of the CPR, in effect, keeps the body going by artificially keeping blood pumping around the body and providing oxygen. They do it to give them time to get him to the hospital where further action can be taken. I'm sure someone said earlier that they keep going until everyone in the team performing the CPR agrees to stop. It was the quick and high quality help that has got him where he is now and hopefully continuing on the road to recovery. The medical where nothing short of outstanding.

I am overjoyed for the lad and so proud to be a wanderer,

Fabrice Muamba questions the need to stop a game for a cardiac arrest

fabrice Muamba doesn't do press ups. He pushes the world away and pulls it back up again.

For the first time in my life I will genuinely be looking out for the Spurs result tonight.

Just saw the interview with the DR, he was only there as his son gave up his ticket and he took them up. So glad he did. We've been blessed by good grace, (Sorry if it's already been said)

First words to fab " I heard your a good footballer " fabs reply " I try ". .... Humour when he was at risk the most..

Very good. Will gladly join in with that. Still think 'Fab is coming home' will be easier to get going, but let's at least give it a try!

Aye, I believe it's been mentioned.

Aye, I believe it's been mentioned.

I apologise.

Its been an emotional roller coaster since Saturday. Very hard to find the right words, even now. I'm sure very few of us who watched the events unfold on Saturday night thought Fabrice would have survived. The heroes who helped save his life are able to talk about it now and so can Fabrice. The way the club and everyone involved in the events on Saturday night have conducted themselves has been exemplary. Proud to be a Wanderer for over 40 years and proud to have met Fabrice on several occasions, he is one hell of a guy! get well soon! Just watched the doctor interviews on the bbc football web site, if you haven't watched them already I would recommend you do, unbelievable.

I'd like to dedicate this, my 20,000th* post to the continuing improvement in the health of Fabrice Muamba.

I raise a glass to the hope of once again seeing him ply his trade at Bolton Wanderers subject to medical advances allowing it.

* 20,000, some olk would think I've nothing better to do with my time. . . my wife being my iercest critic.
