Got caught in one in Louisiana once when I was working over there. Fook me it was absolutely terrifying. You could see it way over the horizon and within minutes it was on top of us Quote
Cheese Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 (edited) Best one I ever saw was in Bielefeld in Germany about 1999. Turned from a gloriously sunny day, to dark and torrential with violent thunder in about 5 minutes. Never seen anything like it. Edited July 29, 2025 by Cheese Quote

Best I saw was in Porec in Croatia Could see it coming from miles off whilst sat on roof top bar and heading towards us Everyone went inside but I stayed watching it go overhead and got piss wet through Then, as often happens abroad, about ten minutes after it stops you wouldn't know it had been raining Apart from the fact I was soaked Quote

Was insane. Lightening bouncing off the sea. Got marooned in a bar once it hit land with rain cascading down the streets. Fabulous. Quote
MancWanderer Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Croatia is ace for storms. This was the lightning map when I went to Dubrovnik a few years ago. Absolutely tremendous Quote

Torrential rain with the first and strong wind. Bright sunshine and some clouds later, and even stronger winds. Wet through from the inside- wearing a waterproof in such humidity doesn't always help! L/H White Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 the wind through the night was a bit barmy Quote

Not a cloud in the sky either Same here - beautiful today after a 7 hour drive through rain yesterday getting down south. Youngest is camping in Garstang with her cousins - apparently really odd weather really windy for a bit, then rain, then really warm. Quote
