Midfield Options

Featured Replies

Im with bigish and RU, we took a punt and tried riley at right back and he was impressive, ive heard good reports about vela and think he should've been given a go last night, maybe throwin him in so close to the end of the season at such an important time might not be an option...but when is?

Are we now going to be a team considered for relegation again instead of a top half of the bottom end of the table with a good cup run team??

Kevin Davies in midfield??? Deary me.

I'd rather see Vela given a chance or if needs be, Tuncay.

Are folk really suggesting skd in midfield?

No

No

And

No

it started as a joke last night. Grown to like the idea, shows what few options we have. The rest of our midfield options don't have a tackle between them. Admittedly he wouldn't have been my first choice

red card waiting to happen imo

I think its unfair to judge ream in midfield as hes not a midfielder and the two games he's played there are against spurs and city away. Tough games considering his prem experience.

Wolves might be a better game to get an idea if he can play in midfield.

Zat Knight in midfield will add summat

None of the options really appeal, but I feel that we have to keep Wheater and Ream at Centre Half, we have looked much better defensively since that partnership started, it also keeps Knight out of the way. 4-4-2 is not the answer, unless you play Alonso and Mears / Riley as your wingers, i.e. players who can / will defend. So that leaves Ricketts or Mears in midfield, though tempted to go with youth, don't think Vela offers the defensive side we need. We had the same problem last season when we had Elmander and Gardner in central midfield, surely that should have hinted at the need for midfield reinforcements, we only have 2 missing.

A few extra greys on my bonce.

Rickets as DM with NRC is the best option so..

I mentioned this in the spurs match thread

We look a bit fucked

I really don't rate Ream in midfield

As already said, Mavies, Ryo/eagles and Petrov in a 4 is asking for trouble

I have no idea!!

Maybe not for Wolves, due to a lack of match practice, but if Pratley's out for longer: it will be Mears.

Whatever the outcome Mavies has to play in the advanced position, he does not look half the player when sitting deep

surely coyles purchases(lack of) must be brought into question

What active duty midfielders do we have then??

NRC...

Mavies

Vela

Pertov

Ryo

Erm...

Its the perfect excuse to go 442

bit harsh wit holden muamba and now pratley all injured

he knew holden was long term, he didnt play muamba and we all know, except him that pratley is fucking dogshit

we only have 2 missing.

Really? 2... are you SURE about that?

I count Holden, Muamba, Pratley and Davis - that's 4 off the top of my head in the central positions alone. Are you honestly saying we should have 8 or more first-team central midfielders on our books? I'm glad you're not the manager.

How do we know?

cos he did it very well at chelsea 2 years back

was thinking in the campo role so nrc can push up abit

While I can see the merits... I can also see plenty of coloured cards in his future if that were to transpire.

Spot on for me.

Ricketts is strong in the tackle and good on the ball, him and NRC holding in midfield with M.Davies pushing on.

Its the perfect excuse to go 442

I'm not a fan of playing players 'out of position', especially ones with very little Premiership experience.

442 for me and at least have players doing the job they know!

If we are desperate to have 3 central midfielders then either recall Davis or get a kid from reserves who plays the role we need... box to box energy

he knew holden was long term, he didnt play muamba and we all know, except him that pratley is fucking dogshit

but for complications holden should have been back for months now, as we all know muamba should be first choice.

I'm not up for defenders in midfield, whether it be ream or ricketts

Neither do I want Alonso anywhere near the 1st team

So by order if natural selection, 442 it is. Ngog and klasnic please

Any 2 from our 3 super lightweight wingers.

May the lord have mercy on arseholes
