Michael Johnson - on a pay as you play deal along with Owen Hargreaves on the same deal..............we wouldn't be paying many wages on those 2..............................would be useful for a game or two every 'blue moon'

In an ideal world we'd have a manager who had the tactical nous to know how and when to use a player with M.Davies's abilities/deficiencies.

Unfortunately we haven't. We've got Owen Coyle.

If we're stuck with Coyle, as it looks like we are, then we might as well get shut if a decent offer comes in for him.

Bit of a shame really.

And I said he played his best next to the Moo,because without a ball winner that midfield is too lightweight.

Get out the way, Daz, there's a gay off ensuing.

Who are you having a Gayoff with?

Oops, soz. As you were...:)

Holden and M.Davies have played together with Lee and we've been way better than what we were last season.

I'd rather have M.Davies in a 5, than no M.Davies and go with K.Davies in a 2,

Sordell with Muamba (if better) Lee, Petrov, M.Davies and Holden will be ace in this league, even if it's a 2 of Sordell and N'Gog, I'd still want to keep M.Davies, why does he have to be sacrificed for a holding player, he was useful when Holden was fit and will be great in a 5, don't think it'll be 4-4-2 all time, we'd probably end up sticking Pratley (Yawn) in because we have no one else.

Replace Muamba with Andrews, and say Holden ain't fit to play every game, 4.5 million won't get us better than M.Davies, probably just wipe a teeny bit of debt away. take away players like M.Davies, our squad is weaker, it's an easier league, so we shouldn't be looking to be getting rid of our flair/talented players.

M.Davies could hurt so many defences, he did it in the prem, not always, but he can glide with the ball, very Iniesta like with his dribbling motion.

And who is to say Holden will be anything like the player he was?

muamba was in the top few tacklers in the league 2 seasons back

behind holden, like

Agreed and noted, but 2 leg breaks might have him thinking "Fuck this" Ihope not because we fucking missed him last season.

I'd rather keep M.Davies and play him just behind a striker in a 5, even just off the striker in a 4-4-1-1 would be ok.

To get rid of a promising youngster totally goes against OCs "policy".

To go against 4-4-2 also goes against his 'policy' unfortunately.

Not sure how well 451 would go in the championship, not seen loads of it like but I would imagine a few teams will come to the Reebok and stick a load of cloggers behind the ball and we will need more than one striker to break that down.

Does any major team play 4-4-2 all the time now?

Perhaps Bayern played with 2 wingers but then only one striker up.

Certainly none of the top teams that I saw at the Euros.

Doubt any potential competitors next season will.

They will play 4-5-1, pack the midfield like Norwich and Swansea and never let us have the ball.

Oh well...

Trouble is that Coyle is tactically naive with a disastrous pig-headed streak.

Apparently, coming from an itk source coyle has been studying Spain and this season will play with no striker whatsoever.

M Davies....very Iniesta like. Aye, of course he is

Is there a reason why you always feel to need to compare players to other players?

Mark Davies faded last season after the injury to Muamba - he needs a ball winning minder.

Keeper merry go round could get started now

Foster has just signed for West Brom

Expect it all to kick on and eventually us get Lonegan?

I'm easy either way with mavies. If he stays then there is no doubt he would take the piss at this level but on the other hand, money talks.

Mark Davies kept the ball better than any other player in our squad last season.

He wins his fair share of tackles.

He carries the ball better than anyone else in the squad.

Yes, he can switch off defensively on occasion, and he's obviously not great in the air.

If he's shit, I don't know where all the optimism about next season has come from.

short sightedness is coming from him not banging in goal after goal from midfield which condemns hiim to not being good enough. I'd love to keep hold of him and i think we will

Knew someone would read it wrong.

Did I mention ability? I said his dribbling motion, both can sway/glide past a player quite effortlessly. It's very similar, M.Davies is a Barca/Arsenal esque player (style, not mentioning ability), it's asking a lot from him when he's being ignored when we go long ball, he's one of a few who actually show for the ball and can pass and move, not afraid of it, not afraid of attempting to take on a man.

It's the case of finding a team and formation to suit him for me, and whether we an afford to do it.

Can't play him in a 442 with the likes of Petrov on the wing. I think a 451 could work with Andrews and Holden taking turns to sit but then I think the 1 has to be a finisher (ie not Ngog).

Isnt that what Sordell is supposed to be?

not one trusted in the Prem.

bought for the Championship, why else would you pay that money for someone to sit on a chair for 90 minutes.
