Cycle To Work

The company where I work are launching a cycle to work scheme (you pay for the bike at source, tax breaks etc).

The company which we're using only use Halfords for bikes.

We can apply for between ?100 and ?1000 of vouchers to be spent on the bike and any ancillaries (lights, lock etc).

I will be using the bike daily cycling a total of 12 miles (6 miles there, 6 miles back).

I have looked on the website and am completely stumped, do I get a road bike or a hybrid bike or a mountain bike?

Any cyclists out there that can help?

The worst are the fucknuts that take shortcuts over pavements and think that traffic lights don't matter to them

All whilst riding with a cunting camera on their helmet to catch motorists out

Wankers of he highest order

At least one fucks me off every week

40 cyclists have died this year on the road and yet they (the ones still with us) insist on breaking the laws of the road

Fuck 'em

If 40 boxers had died they'd ban it.

If a cyclist hits a car, it will result in minor cosmetic damage to said car, whereas if a car ploughs into a cyclist the cyclist will die, so it's reasonable to be fairly forgiving as far as cyclists are concerned. Some cyclists don't help themselves though, granted, and for my part the ONLY time I will ride in the middle of a carriageway is in slow traffic approaching lights, or on approaches to blind left hand bends where I'd be invisible to a motorist who is halfway round behind me. Generally, I prefer to encourage cuntish car drivers to be in front of me rather than behind.

Two abreast is daft and antagonistic, except for in very specific instances where the motorist's job is actually made more difficult by having to overtake two cyclists one after the other rather than just one obstruction, if you see what I mean. But generally a really bad idea.

Your chopper looks a bit dodgy to me Spider......oooerr.Wheres the gear stick on the middle of the cross bar ffs, and the seat doesn't look reet.

On the topic of bikes, Lance Armstrong has finally been charged for his comically obvious doping.

For years they've been trying to get him, but yet again, "evidence" comes out just before the Tour starts. It's like my tyre,it's wearing a bit thin.

i once saw a cyclist stop and beat the crap out of a driver for pulling infront of him..

did i mention it was a cycle path ?? (say it quick)

Piece of piss, you'd be breathing out yer arse mate! ;) :D

I'd probably take it easy on you though, it's been a few years since that yomp - and you're not gettin' any younger!:.gif' alt='default_lol.gif' alt='::lol::'>:.gif'>

Reet, I am in serious training now pal. I'll show thee........................................................... :D

I get it. 2 windows open, Google & WWays, and you typed that in the wrong one ;)

I wish you would get it.

Top tip; save ????'s on buying Jeremy Clarkson's books by reading all his arguments rehashed on here.

Get a cyclo cross. Put on road tyres you'll have all the speed of a road bike but will be able to punish it like a mountain bike.. cyclists who disobey the rules of the road should be shot.. off topic but armstrong is guilty as sin and a complete tosser.. not sure what the point is of punishing him tho. Keep the myth that he's a good guy. The myth does a lot for the fight against cancer

No, the authorities have been trying to protect him for years.

You need a mental age of 2 to look at the facts and think anything other than he doped himself, he doped his teammates, and he destroyed the career of anyone who did not go along with his lies.

Horrible cunt.

I'd advise anyone who dislikes cyclists to stay away from Cambridge. Riding on pavements, mowing down pedestrians, ignoring traffic lights etc.

To make it worse there's fucking thousands of them and they get away with it. I'm not a violent person, but I made an exception for the cunt who nearly ran me over on a pelican crossing.

Not a big fan, but at least he's semi-honest now.

Climbing mountains is all about lifting weight as quickly as possible, so it is normally judged by a Watts per kilo figure for the rider.

In the 80s, before EPO and blood transfusions, a TDF winner would typically be able to achieve 5.7-5.9 W/Kilo

During the big drugs bonanza, including Lance, this shot up to 6.3-6.7 W/Kilo

Now there are tasteful limits to how much you can cheat, it's back to around 6.0W/Kilo

Lance's supporters basically want to believe that in an era when every team leader was suddenly climbing massively quicker than anyone before or since, and Lance was making the biggest leap of all, he was the only clean one (more or less everyone else has been done by now). It's just nonsense.

Millar admitted what he did - I'd like him more if he was more honest about what is still possible within the testing regime, but in reality cycling is cleaner than most sports, because its the only sport making a semi-serious attempt to clamp down. Tennis, Football and Swimming are the real farces now.

My point about Armstrong was that they have been after him for years, and just before the biggest race in cycling, they suddenly come up with "proof" . I agree that cycling is the most transparent of sports when it comes to drugs and doping, but do they have to come up with proof before the race to prove it.
