Did Murray once say he is not British, he is Scottish?

they're greats for a reason. they produce the goods consistently and win many titles. they'll go down in history as greats,he sadly won't. just as a very good player,a bit barcelona compared to real madrid

Real Madrid may have won La Liga last season, but this Barca team of the last 4/5 years will go down as the greatest (especially football style wise) and when I think of Spanish football from my time on this earth I think Ronaldinho, Barca. Xavi, Iniesta, C.Ronaldo and Zidane.

They both will be remembered, as will Murray, he can beat the top three ranked players; in a single player game with no team mate support, it's very difficult to play in a knock out format when you have them also wanting to win.

If you had Barca, Madrid, Man United and say Man City in a knock-out and one of them never win, it doesn't mean they're not good enough, they're just been beaten on the day, even if it happens in the major final, Italy lost 4-0 to Spain in the final last week, yet drew 1-1 in the group stages, so they're good enough, but I guess like Murray, not able to give a performance that wins a final, he played well today and could have gone 2 sets up, it's not his ability stopping him winning, because he knows he can beat/match the top 3.

Yes, he was in the school at the time (but not in the main affected class, I think).

new it thanks M :good:

"The professional tennis player Andy Murray was a student at Dunblane Primary at the time and discussed his recollections of the massacre in his autobiography, Hitting Back. The victims were mostly children who were in a younger age group class than Murray, but he remembers taking cover in a classroom. Murray says he was too young to understand what was happening and is reluctant to talk about it in interviews, but wrote in his autobiography that he attended a youth group run by Thomas Hamilton, and that his mother gave Hamilton lifts in her car."

I also bet on it being 3-1 after Traf's tip so am 30-odd quid richer. Therefore, I'm happy enough.

Happy to be of service.

Has your son got shoes now?

Have I earned redemption yet? :D

He's not got his father's hair so he's a lucky lad anyway. :)

I will never understand this anti Murray stuff. Gives the best player ever a decent run having had the worst luck to play in an era with three all time greats, loses and the emotion of it gets to him in the end, well what a fucking disgrace.

There are some bitter, sour people around. And yet you all follow the England football national embarassment around like sheep.

Football has and always will be the peoples game. Tennis was a game the ordinary man played up until the end of the 30's. Go look at some of the OS maps of 1930's and you will see for every football field or allotment there was also tennis and bowling ground.

Nowt wrong with following England no matter how superior you feel about it.

I feel embarrassed about the Gazza moment that the press and TV built up in 1990, believe me this will be worse. This guy is no better than Tim. He had good players around him in his time too. Murray has reached his zenith.

Victoria was with her husband, who is friends with Murray.

Christ! Football is really dead!

Charlie Brooker has summed the situation up perfectly for us all:

"

People say Murray's miserable because he doesn't smile very often. He's not miserable. He's normal. Have you walked down a street recently? Any street in the country? Go on, pick one. Take a stroll. Bring a notepad. Make a note each time you spot someone walking around beaming like they just taught their dog to shit money. Chances are you'll cross six postcodes before you glimpse so much as a smirk. Which isn't to say people are inherently unhappy. Just that they've got better things to do with their faces than walking around bending their mouths up like idiots.

The people who want Murray to smile are the same ones who try to make me dance at weddings. They want the world to conspicuously enjoy itself in a manner of their choosing, and they turn vaguely sanctimonious when they encounter pockets of resistance, as though their definition of fun is the only one that matters.

So Murray isn't going to win the Merryville Festival of Grins any time soon. What difference does it make to you, you needy pricks? Can't he just play tennis without having to turn around after each point and pull a happy face just for you, like he's your dad watering plants in the garden and you're a toddler watching him through the kitchen window? What do you want, a tennis champion or Mister Tumble? Make your mind up, because you're not getting both."

Murray is much better than Henman was

Henman never got to a slam final and won 11 ATP titles

Murray has and has over double the ATP titles at just 25

Carry on though

This guy is no better than Tim. He had good players around him in his time too. Murray has reached his zenith.

Funny how anyone who knows anything about tennis completely disagrees with you. The guy is the 4th best in the world behind the best player ever to grace a court and two others who run him so close its just not cricket.

I don't think the debate is about how good he is, it's about people willing him towards defeat. I'm fucked if I know what it is about sadsacks in this country who cheer against their own. We've got fuck all else to be optimistic about and our bloke reaches the final of Wimbledon and still there are folk slagging him off. It's the same miserable cunts groaning and moaning that the olympics are coming. Andy Murray may well be a miserable Scottish person, but to the best of my knowledge he has never spit-roasted a teenager on mobile phone footage, never paid for sex with a woman twice his age, never clouted someone with a pint-pot and never been on trial for calling the younger brother of a colleague a black cunt. He is ten times the role model the England footballers are. Scottish, English, Britih, I don't care, for as long as the Union exists we're under one flag as far as I'm concerned and we should be proud of him. He is fourth best behind three confirmed legends. England football are about seventeenth best and behave disgracefully whilst doing it.

I do like Konnie (rubbing thighs as I type...)

I'm suprised he is happy with Murray being is a miserable cunt as that is his whole thang (while being funny) he probably has to take miserable pills or read the terrace talk for last season

Oh dear. How sad. What a shame.

So when they vote for independence, you can switch to our side then?

They won't vote for independence and most of us are on the same 'side.' I know loads of Scots, lived there very happily indeed as an Englishman, am married to a Scot whose family remains there, and I haven't met a single Scot strongly in favour of it. The fact that every time Alex Salmond is confronted with something Scots quite like about the UK, such as the pound, the Queen, an open border, or the BBC, he explains that of course they'd maintain all that, shows where the debate is heading. And this is while the Tories are in charge and massively fucking it up. If they do vote to wreck the Union, you can thank Cameron. Him and his type are fucking loathed and many yes voters will do so as it will secure them freedom forever from the disaster for Scotland that is Conservative governance.

On the sporting front, it's perfectly simple - if it's England v Scotland of course I go for England, if it's a Welsh, Scottish or Ulster Brit against some other punter, I want the Brit to win. I think you'll find the majoroty of people think likewise, though I know you're out of touch with public sentiment in the motherland.
