I will never understand this anti Murray stuff. Gives the best player ever a decent run having had the worst luck to play in an era with three all time greats, loses and the emotion of it gets to him

I don't think the debate is about how good he is, it's about people willing him towards defeat. I'm fucked if I know what it is about sadsacks in this country who cheer against their own. We've got fu

Real Madrid may have won La Liga last season, but this Barca team of the last 4/5 years will go down as the greatest (especially football style wise) and when I think of Spanish football from my time on this earth I think Ronaldinho, Barca. Xavi, Iniesta, C.Ronaldo and Zidane.

They both will be remembered, as will Murray, he can beat the top three ranked players; in a single player game with no team mate support, it's very difficult to play in a knock out format when you have them also wanting to win.

If you had Barca, Madrid, Man United and say Man City in a knock-out and one of them never win, it doesn't mean they're not good enough, they're just been beaten on the day, even if it happens in the major final, Italy lost 4-0 to Spain in the final last week, yet drew 1-1 in the group stages, so they're good enough, but I guess like Murray, not able to give a performance that wins a final, he played well today and could have gone 2 sets up, it's not his ability stopping him winning, because he knows he can beat/match the top 3.

Yawn

That Charlie Brooker article is bob on.

Anyroad, if the Scots go for independence, I reckon we lump in with them. Rather that than a bunch of public school twats from down south.

Murray is much better than Henman was

Henman never got to a slam final and won 11 ATP titles

Murray has and has over double the ATP titles at just 25

Carry on though

+1...Murray is brilliant, if he was in tims era he would have won slams no question. It's just a good job he doesn't have the typical British "well I tried and I was graceful in defeat, that's all that matters" attitude other wise he would be in tims league.

He isn't miserable he is focused, competitive and a winner. Older people don't like him because he isn't as adorable as Tim was. What do most top competitors have in common, they are boring/moody... Fernando alonso, nadal,Tiger woods all boring personalities but all the best at what they do because they are winners and couldn't care less about being liked which is usually why Britain wins rock all at most sports,we are to scared of not being liked and appearing "moody".

They won't vote for independence and most of us are on the same 'side.' I know loads of Scots, lived there very happily indeed as an Englishman, am married to a Scot whose family remains there, and I haven't met a single Scot strongly in favour of it. The fact that every time Alex Salmond is confronted with something Scots quite like about the UK, such as the pound, the Queen, an open border, or the BBC, he explains that of course they'd maintain all that, shows where the debate is heading. And this is while the Tories are in charge and massively fucking it up. If they do vote to wreck the Union, you can thank Cameron. Him and his type are fucking loathed and many yes voters will do so as it will secure them freedom forever from the disaster for Scotland that is Conservative governance.

On the sporting front, it's perfectly simple - if it's England v Scotland of course I go for England, if it's a Welsh, Scottish or Ulster Brit against some other punter, I want the Brit to win. I think you'll find the majoroty of people think likewise, though I know you're out of touch with public sentiment in the motherland.

:D Out of touch with public sentiment? I could dispute that but, what is the point?

I have a bluenose side of my family based around Newton Mearns. A finer bunch of people you could not meet. They'll be voting for the Union, don't doubt that for a moment.

I will ignore the English bleating about the Scottish perpetual choker and keep throwing out the bait for Jazza. ;)

Not watched much but the games I have seen I've found more entertaining than a few years ago when success was dermined by the number of aces served.

Other matters, my mate swears he's fingered Murray's missus

Aha! Now we know why he's miserable.

Aha! Now we know why he's miserable.

to be honest, i have no real interest in tennis, but, in fairness, if he was in that school in Dunblane cowering under a table as a young kid, it puts being miserable with you in a lift into perspective, who knows what goes through his mind everyday, it's a credit to him he's done well at all and can focus on sport never mind being fourth in the world.

being a bit miserable is fúck all compared to that as I'm sure even you'll credit him.

Just to bring some sanity into it, the lad is clearly a superb tennis player and will probably win a Slam event sooner or later.

Yes, he was a really miserable fcuker when we crossed paths and yes, I do believe he has a bit of anti England in him like most inferiority complexed Jocks but, truth is, I just like winding certain Casino characters up about him.

I like tennis about as much as I like golf or any other individual sport. Team games only for me - breeds a spirit of togetherness and unity of purpose. Mostly found sporting individuals to be selfish fuckers.

I have to disagree, he is a miserable fucker and a loser, I do not like him because he is a Jock, which was compounded by his attitude when asked who would win Euro 2006 and he said "anybody but England" which spawned the ABE T shirts proudly worn by skirt wearing bucki swillers, I was slagged off by a couple of Jocks last night as I was shouting for Federer wearing a SNP t-shirt

Tim adorable?

He was just as fecking miserable and twatted that tennis ball against the ball girl(in a bad way) before he became the media's darling.

He didn't say "anybody but England", but I'll not let facts get in the way of an uninformed rant.

What did he say then?

During an interview a journalist asked him how he thought Scotland would do in the world cup finals that where taking place at the time, obviously joking about how they had failed to quallify for them. Both where laughing when he replied, something along the lines of, I'll just have to support the team England are playing. Bits where taken from that interview and turned into something they clearly weren't, which was a little bit of banter at the time. Since then he's stressed a number of times he's proud to be both Scottish and British and that he isn't in any way anti-english.

If you've had a personal encounter with the man then I see it as fair game not to like him, but these cunts that go on about hating him, probably for no other reason than every other fucker does, do start to get on my tits. Ask them why and they'll feed you the same bollocks too.

Having said all that, I couldn't paticuarly give a toss. He's lost again now, so until next time he's back to being a Scottish wanker.

All jocks say the anti English, support the opposition thing whether they think it or not. Pre programmed, brainwashed or defeated and downtrodden - take your pick.

Then they go and draw against someone like the Faroe Islands and we laugh more heartily.

it isnt nice to laugh at the Faroe islands for that result, any team can have a freak result and concede against a team like Scotland :D

it happens now and then

What has Cameron done that's anti-Scotland?

I'll take it as nothing then
