A few positives:-

 

- a win

- after we scored the team looked very confident and all players wanted the

ball

- did start well and created a few chances

- definite penalty

- Mark Davies, Eagles, Chippy better than saturday

- KD looked better when Sordell had gone off

- Quick to get a pint at half time

- Quick to get away

 

Negatives

 

- Mears (wrong decisions / bad passes)

- Too many long balls up to KD (we made it look easier when we attacked at

pace on the floor)

- Derbys following

 

Overall, still a long way to go, but another win on friday and things will start looking up.

I think it let's them know tat the performance wasn't good enough, same as the manager will bollock them at half time or should he not do that incase he upsets them!

 

A manager is paid to dish out bollockings as and when they are needed (whether ours does or not is a different thread completely).

It wasn't the result I wasn't happy with it was the performance as it was at burnley

Yes the performance wasn't great but it's only the second game. As I have commented before I think too many people are expecting us to play free flowing football and walk this league. Grinding results out in this league has to be done then confidence builds and you go on from there. You could see the relief amongst the players when we scored then the confidence grew and we started wanting the ball more. As others have said you have to be patient. Whether you score two in the first two minutes or two in the last ten minutes they all count.

The most important thing about last night was that we got 3 points. there were good and bad periods of the game, the first 20 mins the tempo was good and all we needed was a goal, mavies wanted the ball.but once he had his penalty appeal turned down the confidence drained from him and the team.we needed that first goal and upto halftime we stuggled. 2nd half drifted really and could have gone either way until afoebe came on, the midfield concerns me, mills looked ok if a bit rusty, same with lee, eagles appart from class corners and the goal little else just a pretty boy. relief felt all round

No team ever plays great for 90 mins every game. Results first with performance second in my eyes. Perfomances will improve as the season goes on no doubt but at this stage i would quite happily be bored shitless winning 1-0 every week. We know on our best game teams in this league will struggle to deal with us but its important when we arent playing to our best that we still win and we did that.

The moaning cunts at the back of the NSL provided some comedy.

 

Mills played one of his admittedly too many long balls 'ducking hell you fat shit cunt what's that' as the ball drops neatly for kev to control.

 

As Sordell was taken off 'BOOOOOOO! Take Davies off not him, for fucks sake Coyle'. Couple of minutes later Davies puts the ball in the net.

 

Then some general heckling of Eagles including 'get yer hands out of your pockets' Eagles busts a gut and scores the second.

 

Oh and anyone booing at half time needs to give their head a wobble and reassess their expectations.
