enzo gambaro Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Nothing decided in this league after ten games so would like to see the stable option given a chance Owen won't come here. Quote
ex_midlandwhite Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 noted however, his predecessors weren't competing in the league we are in ours is, without doubt, an expensive squad in this league I think we probably have the best squad in the league which is why he has to get it performing. If he can't then he definitely deserves the sack. I really want him to succeed though! Quote
birch-chorley Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 we have some of the best players in the league but best squad I am not so sure there are some fucking big holes Quote
HomerJay Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Eagles has been our best player this season. Cyl should be out, not him. And I don't particulary rate eagles. Apart from that, and the utter nonsense that mark Davies is living off one game, not a bad post...from a football fan. Quote
jules_darby Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Mixed review from me Garrpo Agree with the point on centre backs but some of it I massively disagree with You made a post about this time last season when you were very pro Coyle and what he was doing saying to paraphrase "lots of you moaning will look stupid in May". I've never brought it back up before but you deserve it by trotting out the "our fans are idiots" line I'm sorry but it really gets my fucking goat and I'm not jumping on the bandwagon; we have as many numb fuckers as every club but we somehow seem to have been labelled stupid and I'm just not buying it Yep we're reactionary but to call the 4-5-1 solution a myth after one game is ridiculous and yesterday doesn't disprove that it would serve us well. Remember our little run last season with that formation and Muamba playing?? Poss until Norwich away maybe? Also, folk only moaned about it under BSA's last few months when he wasn't arsed and it was 1 dimensional and boring as well as most importantly ineffective; it wasn't when we were up for it and had 2 players buzzing up and down and off SKD It's never JUST about formations, but of course it's part of it. Your team also has Mears and CYL on the same side; which I'm not sure about. Is Mears any good? I don't know yet but I wouldn't say for certain so far that he should be in every week Quote

Your team also has Mears and CYL on the same side; which I'm not sure about. Is Mears any good? I don't know yet but I wouldn't say for certain so far that he should be in every week Yep, no problem with that. I said 'lots of you moaning will look stupid in May'. Iv already brought it up myself. In my defence I naively thought Holden would be back from his injury and had no idea what happend to Muamba would happen. Yes, Coyle didn't have Muamba first choice, but he was next in line after Reo Choker and Mavies and at the end of the season we had only Mavies fit and Reo Choker playing through injury as we had no other option. I thought we were extremely unlucky with injuries (more so than ive ever known). Ultimitely though, we still should have had enough to stay up and other mistakes by Coyle were the reason we went down. Hands up i was wrong and I am the one who looks stupid. The 451 really pisses me off. I said last year I don't care what formation we play, that isnt the problem. I said I hated teams chopping and changing the formation every week to suit the opposition like managers like Steve bruce do. I also said and still stand by the fact that 442 is the best formation for our players. I believe this to be without doubt. Every fecking game during the Mary Spunkson days, every fecking game where we got beat or were shit there were cries and moaning about 451 being shit and we need to play 442 and 2 up front. It was every single time. That was the problem, the be all and end all. Now its exactly the same with Coyle. We play 442 and we get beat "fucking coyle and his 442" when we get beat playing 451 its never mentioned by anyone but me. One of our worst performances of last season was 451 against Fulham at home, that never gets mentioned. On the other side of the coin our best performances was probably the 4-0 away win against QPR when we played Reo Coker and Muamba and that useless cunt Mavies didnt play. Our worst performances this season by a country mile (yes its only our 4th game) was yesterday playing the 451 with our new 'missing link' defensive midfielder playing. We were absolute dog wank, worse than Burnley, Worse than Derby and worse than Forest. Last point. Serious question. Why have you mentioned Mears and not Ricketts? He has been utter dogshit at left back and cost us more goals that anyone since hes been playing there. This is what bugs me, its the same players who get abuse and the same players who get away with being dog shit. I know you said you're not sure yet and you havnt said hes shit but you mentioned him and not Ricketts and most the fans at the games and on here slate Mears regardless. Quote
birch-chorley Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 we can hound Ricketts out when we have finished with Mears One at a time please Quote

Casino Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 ricketts is playing left back because he's better than coyles 2 million quid alternative one of the premier leagues best ever left backs was all right foot but yes, it leaves that side narrow, specially as the left winger is right footed but you'd have to ask coyle why he isn't playing wylde or petrov Quote
Casino Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 oh aye, if we play 4-5-1, we've now got 4 highly paid players for 1 place Quote

Didledee Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I'm just thinking of not going, been to Barca B and Derby, watched Forest on SKY, can't be arsed with being fed up because of 'em and wasting money, they don't deserve support, they are giving nothing in return. Quote

jules_darby Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Garrp Ricketts I actually didn't notice you'd put him in And I'm surprised From what I've seen Ricketts has been shocking to be fair He was shocking at the end of last year too. Don't get it as previously I thought he'd been decent I think Mears gets it more as he's associated with the Burnley tag Quote
Garrp Posted September 2, 2012 Author Posted September 2, 2012 The problem with Ricketts is hes a shite left back. Hes a right back. For every Dennis Irwin theres a million who cant do it. Coyle should never have made him one of his two left backs but he was unlucky and had no choice. Go back 12 months and weve steinson at right back and Robinson/Alonso/Gardner at left back Our other right back ricketts is injured until christmas Riley hasnt broke through yet We need anither right back - il sign mears So we have Steinson and Mears Right back and Robinson and Alonso left back Mears breaks his leg, we will bring boyata in as cover and try riley. Riley is good, we now have Steinson, Riley and boyatta. Alonso serious injury, robinson shit and rickets back. Lets try rickets left back as hes comfortable with bith feet and played there before. Scores a wonder goal on his return and hes better than robinson Bingo, send robinson out on loan when alonso is back fit and we have rickets and alonso now at left back. End of season robinson released mears is back, so fuck steinsin off and we have out 2 right backs in mears and riley and two left backs in ricketts and alinso It was kind of forced through injuriea and what not Hes now our left back when he should be our right back Quote

Arrested development Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Agree with the majority of your original post Garrp. Whatever formation we play we need to find a way to stop conceding goals. That's the main issue. Whether that's down to the personnel or formation, Coyle needs to find the solution quickly. If we can start keeping a few clean sheets then we will start to move up the league. Most fans have lost confidence in Coyle but I honestly think he has lost confidence in himself. He doesn't seem to stick to his principles anymore. We are caught between trying to play on the floor and going long. People might think that mixing it up is sensible but i see it as Coyle losing faith in himself and choosing to go direct because he has ran out of ideas. I'm ok with 442 as long as we get the ball out wide to our dangerous players. I think it would be unfair to drop Eagles aswell after the way he has started the season, so for me Lee should be the one to make way. Quote

HomerJay Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 No pattern but there must be reasons behind (hopefully) If there was a plan, I'd expect them to play the other way around personally. Maybe he Expects arial bombardment at home so mills is in? Quote
