derek smalls Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 is it not clutching at straws to say its an `unbeaten run` when you scrape a really jammy draw in a game where our own travelling fans say we could have lost 8-0? its on a knife edge. no losses in 6 or no wins in 5 after wednesday. take your pick. all you people who say you don`t give a fuck about this season as long as we stay up. the reality is that if we finish 17th we will be watching 6 months of dog turd performances. I think you may say differently by February if its no different. Quote
Casino Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 if palace weren't top of the league, i may be worried i wouldn't dare guess what he's up to, i just have this belief he does, so while he's at it, we may as well go with it y'know, for more than half a dozen games Quote

I'm gutted I missed the trip for several reasons but not least the feeling people have told me they experienced when that goal went in. Quote
Carlos Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 The thing is, we know some people are never happy, and possibly can never be. People slagged Rioch off, slated David Lee, moaned about Fat Sam, slated Anelka, openly abused Nolan, abused Megson beyond what's acceptable, abused Coyle beyond psychopathically, now the new bloke is getting grief from the type of people who probably go down to watch kids football and abuse people there too. It carries no weight when the usual suspects wade in as they'll always find something to moan about. Quote
DazBob Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Must admit his team selections are a bit puzzling. To put Ream in midfield ahead of Spearing was a strange one. I'm hoping there's some method behind the madness at the moment rather than him hoping to stumble upon a winning formula. What's concerning me is that with Petrov clearly unfancied and with Wylde out on loan we don't have a single left sided midfielder available. We're still unbeaten with Dougie in charge though, so glass still half full. Quote
Guest Frandsen08 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 maybe just maybe hes trying to work out, his best players formations and tactics. He remains unbeaten and we are tough to beat. We haven't been like that in a long time. Quote

jules_darby Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Were we tough to beat on Saturday or were we simply lucky not to be beaten? Very very lucky The way they coasted with the ball up to our final third was scary Quote
Carlos Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Is that not how Fat Sam played, with 2 solid banks of 4? Inviting people to shoot from distance? Quote

Don't me wrong we were lucky not to be beaten, but away from home you need a bit of luck sometimes and we got ours. Would we have got a point under OC? nobody really knows, but i have my doubts. Mounts Kipper Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Is that not how Fat Sam played, with 2 solid banks of 4? Inviting people to shoot from distance? Yes Sam did do that but the key difference is there was a real desire that they shall not pass and a tremendous amount of hard work on discipline and drilling the team, granted Freedman not had the time to drill and organise but the desire to close down and tackle should be evident from day one. Watching that video footage on the other thread has me more than worried that he either cannot or is not getting the message across to the players it was worse than embarrasing at Brighton and mark my words he will be gone in 12 months with many more repeats of what was served up at Brighton. burndenpaddock Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Didn't Dougie say in his first interview after getting the job that he wanted to change the 'losing' mentality that has manifested itself at the club? 5 games unbeaten under his charge would suggest that he's achieving that, albeit at the price of good performances in some matches. I'd much rather come away from a game thinking we were lucky to get a point rather than coming away thinking the team didn't show up and got beat. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't - some people will never be satisfied. We've also got 3 games in a week - maybe he didn't fancy us to get anything from Brighton so put a team out that would be hard to beat, with a view to resting players that could win us the games against Blackburn and Ipswich - only time will tell. All I know is that I am much happier with him at the helm than Coyle - at least Dougie puts a team out to match the opposition, which to me suggests he knows what he's doing. Quote
DazBob Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 (edited) eagles and butterfield Butterfield will be gone in a fortnight and I wouldn't say that just because he does player there that Eagles is a left-sided player. He always wants to drift back into the middle. ... and Franny, yes, I'm pretty certain that we'd have lost the Brighton game under Coyle. Edited November 26, 2012 by DazBobParr Quote

See, to me, it's apparent that the players are more to blame than the manager. You should be able to perm any XI from our vast squad (at this level) and they should be steamrollering teams. Obviously that's not happening, and I don't blame him for trying others after we failed to beat Barnsley. After the performance at Brighton, I'll guarantee he'll be making more changes. Come Jan and the summer, many of the players who've had a chance and didn't take it will be fucked off and he can bring people in who are up for the challenge. When he starts dropping players he's bought, I think we can complain. Quote

Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't - some people will never be satisfied. aye, but in some games it's been down to luck than resolute defending - Leicester was the same, they could've had a hatful and it wasn't really our defending that stopped them - plus we have lost the lead twice v Blackpool and at home to Barnsley, so not sure about any mentality changes going on, as we're not protecting leads not moaning, but not seeing anything to be optimistic about at the moment and doubt we'll go up now this season, so expect the squad to get weaker, so expect more of the same as we've been getting so far - which is not cause for optimism for me. hope I'm wrong etc but I'm not raving Mary Quote
enzo gambaro Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Why will Butterfield be gone? We can just extend his loan, surely. Quote

Carlos Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 We finished below QPR who are on track for a record points low in the BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE. We were in freefall and Guardiola didn't fancy it. Quote
