MalcolmW Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 I wonder who would win between the Liverpool team of the 90's and the Arsenal team of the 30's featuring Charles Charlie Charles ? As Bill Shankly said when Emlyn Hughes asked how Kevin Keegan (in his pomp) compared to Tom Finney: "I have to agree there is nothing between them - but then Tom Finney is 55". Quote
Farrelli Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 That bunch of goons who follow the GB Davis Cup team everywhere are very annoying. 'lets go GB let's go!' f off! Quote
bolty58 Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 That bunch of goons who follow the GB Davis Cup team everywhere are very annoying. 'lets go GB let's go!' f off! Aye, as embarrassing as Australia's 'Fanatics'. Quote
jturner Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 In the list of tennis bad boys, I didn't know Timbo was once disqualified for hitting a ball at a ball girl Quote

Exiled Girl Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 The Canadian takes the title though! Well there was the line judge that was accidentally killed by an Edberg serve back in '83... Quote
jturner Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I see there was a bit of upset at the US v Germany Fed Cup tie in Hawaii. An America opera singer sang the banned Nazi era version of the German National anthem "I thought it was the epitome of ignorance, and I've never felt more disrespected in my whole life, let alone in Fed Cup," Germany's Andrea Petkovic said Quote
Exiled Girl Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 The US have form for it - they played the Slovakian national anthem for the Czechs one year. Quote
Winchester White Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 (edited) How can you compare one generation to the next with the way things have changed? In something like boxing you can have some comparison but in tennis the equipment is so much better now. If you put Nedal in a game back in the 70's with shit rackets, balls and shoeswould that be fair comparison? No as he has trained for his career with state of the art equipment and can only rate himself against his peers now which seems to be pretty damn good. bolty58 Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 One question, did any of the lads superfans on here buy a copy of this? Apparently it sold 200 copies and his mother swears blind it wasn't her. Quote

Exiled Girl Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 The aussie Kyrgios beats Djokovic in straight sets, both he & fellow aussie Hewitt have now beaten Federer, Nadal & Djokovic the first time they played them. Meanwhile Murray has never lost to an aussie in a tournament. Quote

Farrelli Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Murray's drop shot on match point down was something special. You need plenty of bottle and skill to produce that. Quote

jturner Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 I can't see Ilie's humour going down well with the powers that be As Romanian player Simona Halep was answering a question in English about Williams' pregnancy at Friday's Fed Cup draw in Constanta, the 70-year-old turned to one of his other team members and added in Romanian: "Let's see what colour it has. Chocolate with milk?" Quote

jturner Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Another shocker from Murray, he's been spraying unforced errors around like nobodies business all the clay court season. The experts are saying he's the worst world no 1 since Roddick in 2002 and it might even be an idea for him to skip the French like Federer to concentrate on Wimbledon.
