jturner Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 And your point is? Murray has reached eight more finals and is higher ranked. There is no disgrace in losing to Federer or Djokovic in slam finals, two of the all time greats. Murray is more consistent and Wawrinka has the better big match temperament. Quote

Also two Olympic golds. Quote
Farrelli Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Murray is more consistent and Wawrinka has the better big match temperament. Better big match temperament, not a chance. You are really misrepresenting the facts. In their six grand slam/Olympic meetings Murray has a 4-2 lead. Murray also won the only final they played in against each other. Not exactly indicating SW has better temperament. Quote
Exiled Girl Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 It's a bit like Paper/Scissors/Stone. Stan can beat Djoko, Djoko beats Murray & Murray beats Stan. Quote

Let me be clearer and rephrase what I meant "Wawrinka has a better Grand Slams Final temperament than Murray" In football terms a 4th Round, or quarter final tie is not as pressurised as playing in the Final. Even Sam, Youri and Jay Jay, froze on our big day in the League Cup Final. If you think Murray handles the pressure of Grand Slam Finals as well as Wawrinka does we will have to agree to differ. You don't have to be clearer, I got it the first time and it simply is not true. SW beat Djokovic on his weakest surface in the French and the US Open final last week is the worst I have seen Djokovic play in a grand slam final. I am not taking it away from SW as you can only beat what's in front of you but his 3/3 record is a tad fortunate IMO. Quote
Casino Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 murrays career record v novak pretty much mirrors his slam final record v djokovic so nowt to suggest he performs any worse in GS finals Quote

MalcolmW Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Murray v Del Potro is taking over an hour per set (2-1 to Scotland GB currently). Quote
Alf Hartigan Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Murray v Del Potro is taking over an hour per set (2-1 to Scotland GB currently). Not a massive fan of this comp but watched that, Potro plods his way though points without taking risks, fair play to him though. In commentary, John Inverdale came out with with something I couldn't believe when talking about atmosphere. He said words to the effect 'there's nothing in world sport to match this.' Haha, what a bell. Quote
jeep Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 We're out. Del Potro doesn't plod along, got a great forehand that punishes his opponents. He'll be top 4 soon. Quote

Exiled Girl Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Evans should play DelPo on Sunday, if the match is still going. Edmund didn't look up for it in the last 2 sets. Quote

Farrelli Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Surely Djokovic's is not going to turn this around? Quote
