Is there going to be one?

Didnt think that the club normally did this

My owd fella was in Lagos serving King George VI at the time, but Grandpops Breightmet was there.

RIP

RIP to the Burnden 33. Lets do um proud and win 3 points for them

RIP to our lost fans.

Thank goodness my dad decided to go on home when his bus from Manchester (home on leave) got to Burnden and he saw the crowds.

PS : The train line ran up from Colne through Earby back then - not far from Barnoldswick.

Back then the railway network was better than today there was even a second train station in Bolton on Moor lane that served Leigh and beyond, what a cock eyed decision to cull the railways in 1964.

A train to Leigh?

What an utterly absurd suggestion.

lot of out of towners on there - guess that was some people just wanting to watch a very big game? - but its raised a question

how would you get from barnoldswick to bolton?

trains?

Gumbo is a current resident of Hazel Grove and Jules Snr, Marple and Marple Jnr regularly get the train from HG on a match day. I will too when I move back near there this year.

Silly maybe, but I like to think it's keeping Winston's spirit alive a little.

RIP to them all

RIP to the 33

The Leigh addresses are all round the corner from each other (and me). Makes you wonder if they all knew each other.

RIP the 33.

Rip fellow wanderers

good on you pal!

It's a sobering thought that some of the younger ones who died could have possibly been in the Reebok today if they had survived. RIP fellow Wanderers brothers.

Aye, that's an extremely good point - RIP to 'em all.

Grandad was there, never spoke of it. RIP to them all, and all who have never come home from the match.

My grandad was there also , god bless and RIP to the 33 x

My Grandad was on the Great Lever End and he said he and others around him hadn't a clue what had actually happened until he got home later that evening

When he did find out, he was disgusted the match was allowed to be carried on

RIP to them all

That's a different story altogether.

Brilliant that we remember.

Shame that the club didn't yesterday

Flags were at half mast

We wouldn't want to overdo it, either
