Cancelling Sky

Reet, bird's mum wants to cancel sky. She doesn't want to barter, she doesn't want to get X amount of months free, etc, etc. She just wants to cancel it.

 

Will she still be able to use her box for the channels you'd normally get through freeview and will she still be able to 'plus' stuff as well?

 

... or is the Sky box worthless/useless after they've switched her off.

It will be useless unless you get a card off sky to watch the free to air stuff - I think its a tenner. Can't use the plus stuff though I don't think but someone off here might know better.

I cancelled for a few weeks last year. Still used the box for freeview and a couple of extra channels on too.

 

I think the box is good untill they issue new cards to all customers.

 

I had a 75% off offer sent and I was back watching sky while I was still on the phone to them.

I think I'll just get the box off her and put it on Ebay, whatever it goes for, it goes for. She can then put that towards a freeview recorder.

As others have said. I had four boxes but the cards still all worked for the free channels. I sold one box on ebay then bought a Humax reconditioned free sat box from their online site. This will record etc. Never looked back and dont miss sky one jot.

She doesn't want to pay out for anything.

 

... also, I'd argue it's not worth paying anything per month just so you can record stuff. I've had freeview recorders in the past (got a Youview box now) and never had any problems.

Last two I've bought have been reconditioned units and cost under £100, that means it'll pay for itself in under a year. If I can get her £20 for her Sky box then that's a net spend of £80, meaning it's paid for in under 8 months.

 

Not sure why you think anything except SKY's own is shit. You must've trialled a lot to come to such an informed opinion?

other than bbc and channel 4's array of channels i don't watch anything on freeview it's seemingly all repeats of stuff from the sky channels and reality shite.

I've got full Sky but it only ever gets turned on to watch sports.

 

There's so many other ways nowadays to watch what you want, when you want that one's TV should fit around one's life ... not t'other way round.

Oh & the guilty pleasures on E4, but I think that could be free view.

Have had a Humax freesat recorder for over 3 years without any problems at all. If you can live without sport and films. Would'nt dream of going back to Sky

Am on virgin me full hit movies skysports everything crept fert porn......... Internet,telly,phone 35quid a month bargain

 

 

 

Oh yeah and me mobiles 600mins and unlimited texts and internet too......15 quid a month

 

 

 

 

 

Did I mention my mrs works for virgin and gets it cheap....... I'll get me coat...
