MalcolmW Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Well he is having a hip operation in the summer. The ideal situation is that City boot Mancini to get Mourinho, but he gives backword and goes to United, upsets the players (Clough at Leeds stylee) and everything goes pearshaped... Quote
tomski Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 He did always say health would stop him. Ha ha another 28 years of obscurity for these wankers hopefully. Quote
Eddie Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 It will be one of the biggest things to happen in English football for a long time. Like him or loathe him (i'd guess the majority would be the latter and rightly so) he has brought that club more success than they could ever imagine. They will never ever replace him, not for a long time anyway. They might get a good manager in for a bit but they will never get anyone that will stay around for 26 years which brings the stability that they have had for so long. Whoever replaces him is in for a tough job, who the fuck would fancy the task of replacing Ferguson. 1 trophy less season and they will turn into the rest of football fans and will be wanting the new man gone. I for one can't wait Quote
tomski Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Moyes assistant for next year to take over year after. A dmb I know say's this was the plan, how underwhelming. Quote
MalcolmW Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 And if success stops the money-machine slows down. Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 There has been been a big gamble this morning on Moyes replacing ferguson. 12 months back I went to a massive charity sportsmanship dinner for Muscular Dystrophy which Ferguson has been a patron of for 30 years all the North West football fraternity was there the top table side by side was Ferguson and Moyes with there wife's it was obvious the mutual respect and friendship between them and I'm pretty sure Moyes would be Fergusons choice to succeed him. gonzo Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I just can't see Moyes taking over whenever it is. Talking about a world super power of a club here, they would want a bigger name and manager with better credentials than Moyes Surely. Moyes has achieved pretty much fuck all in the grand scheme of things if you ask me. If Jose gets the gig,it would be pretty funny and a giant fuck you to them dickhead Chelsea fans signing his name whilst they have perfectly good manager at the club already. Quote
Piemon Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Attending the Utd POTY do next wednesday night with work. bit of history there if he does call it a day. Quote

All depends what route they want to go down with regards to how long the new man will stay. Mourinho would obviously be the best name for them to get, but how long would he stay around? After 5 years when he's won everything and gets bored he's the kind of personality that would walk away from a club as big as the scum and go somewhere else. Moyes however would more than likely be happy to see out the rest of his career trying to do a Ferguson esque job over the next 20 years, no reason to go anywhere else. I'm not saying he would get that amount of time, or he would be anywhere near as successful, but if they want another sustained period of stability then Mourinho is not the man IMO. Quote

Danny G Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 The club are set to release a statement tomorrow. Quote
EyesRight Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 (edited) I think they will go for Moyes as a stop gap as no "big name" would want to try and fill Fergusons boots. I suspect Moyes will do two or three years before the big name comes in. I just hope it all goes tits up and they end up more of a laughing stock than Liverpool. Edited May 7, 2013 by EyesRight Quote
