Breightmet Boy Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 A few of us refined chaps are coming down to the borough of Wigan for a swill next Saturday to celebrate the life of one of my mates sister who died a few week back. We will be there about 7ish, where's the best places to come for a swill? Quote
MrG Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Rope is good mate, been done up Rope is indeed decent, as is Pendle Witch and Punch Bowl. A suggested plan of attack could be: meet in Punch Bowl, walk up to Old Isaacs, then up to Jolly Nailor and across to Pendle. Finish up there and go up to Athy Arms and then walk past Colls and finish in the Rope. You could of course do this in reverse and finish in the Punch so that you are near Mr English chippy for a post drink kebab! Quote
Underpants Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I know the landlady of the Spinners Arms. Not saying it's any good, I'm just saying like. Quote

Breightmet Boy Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 Punch bowl got mentioned for meeting. We will stick out like sore thumbs because my mate loves 70's shite music like Baccarra and Shalama etc, he fills jukeboxs up listening to the biz. Sorry StevieB Quote

Athywhite_Mike Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Top night out is Athy, full of Bolton except for the DMBs (that get everywhere) Quote
athywhite1958 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I can't believe that no-one has mentioned the Jolly Nailor, excellent pub with loads of real aleas and Kingston cider for £2.10 a pint, I would do - Punchbowl, Old Isaacs, Jolly Nailor, Pendle Witch, Spinners and Rope Quote

beer_swiller Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Depends what you like to drink .As a CAMRA member I stay clear of pubs like the Rope and Anchor because they only have 6 shite pumps selling shite cream flow nitro keg. Jolly Nalor is a superb pub with 6 real ales selling at £2.10 each. They also have Cider and a couple of nitro pumps. Pendle Witch sells a good selection of Moorhouses real ale plus guest ales at the weekend. Athertton Arms is a Holts pub with also a couple of guest ales. Punch bowl is comfortable but sells ale like the rope. Last Orders sells nitro keg and no real ale. Old Issacs has a few real ales. Atherton is a great place for a neet out. Quote
