What a strange appointment by Whelan. After the love affair him and the fans had with Martinez, this appointment has alienated a lot of Wigginers. Great news for us because it is a Megson-type appointment, the atmosphere at their match-days will be toxic and I can't see them going anywhere next season.

Is he a WINNER though?

Steve McClaren must be getting worried.

Nah, he'll just have a schmoke and a pancake.

Like others have said I still actually quite like Coyle, as a person. The fact that he's now manager of a club whose supporters detest us though means I hope it all goes tits up for him .

Nailed on that Smithills_Gent will claim that Coyle has always been a WINNER and him and Wigan is a marriage made in heaven

I don't know him as a person and i don't want to know him as a person, i just know him for what he is

I like Coyle to but it's strange that they didn't go with McClaren given his track record and the fact that they've got a Europa League campaign next season.

Awake at 6:30 again, might go and have 9 holes of golf before breakfast. Has the Wigan job been announced yet, Owen seems to be favourite?

No, Shield is on August 11th but first league game is August 3rd.

Ah, the joy of a cup win and relegation.

Have they got a Euro qualifier to squeeze in too?

No. They go straight into the group stage as F.A. Cup winners.

few of my mates aremt happy after the things they have heard from Us.

If i had the choice id pick DF over OC so im happy with that.

makes our two games a little more tasty.

Wigan Away first game anyone??

No disputing DF over OC but I think Coyle can deliver at Wigan.

This guy is good.

"that's me finished then.. sorry guys but this is a terrible decision... the man is hopless and will not get us back to the big league.. he also cannot sign any decent players because he has no pulling power..

RIP Wigan Ath , RIP Premier League"

"excuse me for wanting Poyet , a young and up and coming manager .. Oh but Whelan woudnt pay the 1.5 compensation to Brighton... but we received 2 million for Martinez..

Coyle is dog **** .. you lot will see..

lacks ambition the whole lot of it" .

Coyle is a lot of things but I wouldn't call him hopless.

Not too sure about that, if his alleged fitness regime is true, they'll be knackered mid season with all the games they need to fit in.

I hope your right, but has a good track record of getting off to a flyer.

Yeah, I reckon they'll be up and running well, spurred on by Coyle's arm round the shoulder and team building. Shagged by Christmas, drift for second half of season.

This season's Boro.

As do a lot of managers, but Coyle's teams seem to dip over the course of a season, and like I say they will be playing a lot more games than the rest of the league.

I'm not sure why they think he's got 'no pulling power' either. He signed Wilshere and Sturridge on loan when they could have gone elsewhere.
