Why don't you sell everything you own, withdraw any savings you have, cash in any investments, any life insurance/pension policies - tell your employer to get fucked or pack in your business - then set off on a round world tour like a big time Charlie Jet Set Willy?

Why settle for 'mediocrity'?

Putting out second strings in European competition to lose to our less illustrious neighbours at the weekend is pretty dull (well infuriating actually).   Getting drubbed on a regular basis is prett

  • It pisses me right off when folk say we've found our level. Have we bollox. It took us 90 odd. Yers to drop to division 3. Historically weve always been a top division club. We've spent more time ther

I think if I was Gartside, I'd have kept my mouth shut about duping City out of 400k especially if he's part of the FA's committee.

Aye, it suits folk when we're not doing so well, you only hear it on a downward spiral

We were more than capable of competing in the PL and more than established ourselves

Then it went wrong

Someone should tell Swansea not to get carried away and West brom should forget about PL football and make way for someone like forest or sheff weds who deserve it more, for some reason

Well said Zico, that's the beauty of the English game compared to the other leagues (something that I was comparing on another thread) that including the conference we must have just about mind 100% sustainable professional clubs.

The beauty of our game is that every dog can have its day, be it a cup run or promotions and all fans of all clubs have the potential to believe something great is going to happen.

Where as abroad you feel this is more followed to how the script should be panned out.

anything 'historically' before the abolition of the maximum wage can fcuk right off

Aye fuck it. Let's go belly up. Conference will suit me. Alty is down the road.

I honestly think some of you want to be one of the 3k against Darlo forever.

Alty aren't in the conference, Skillrex North.

Beats sitting on your arse stagnating. Hand on heart. I'm as pessimistic as its possible but fuck me some of you lot make me look like a combination of Dusty Lee and Timmy Mallet.

Even better. We can be even shitter. Result.

i'm one who wants to be in the top league

otherwise theres no point bothering

what i don't accept is quoting history to suggest what our level should be

its all about money, now

if that changes, fair does but for now, the rich will get richer and more powerful and it just becomes harder and harder to compete

its not the same game that it was 50 years ago

Hang on a minute, how is it being spun that those with realistic expectations are the f*cking doom and gloom merchants?

Do we want to be in the top flight, challenging for Europe, cup-runs? Of course we do. Do we want to risk the long term future of the club pursuing this though? Absolutely not.

Abso-fucking-lutelty it ain't.

But, we did it before.....

Having said that, I'd rather be playing Alty in whatever fecking division they are in than sell our souls like Hull or Cardiff.

Alty aren't in the conference, Skillrex North.

Alty are in the Conference North, sponsored by Skrill (as are all three Conference divisions).

Not sure about that, Cas.

Wasn't that when the rich mega clubs like Norwich, Southampton, Crystal Palace, Watford, Hull, Ipswich, QPR, Brighton began their rise from the lower divisions ?   I put the Lancashire town clubs' demise at the time down to panic and mismanagement.

Hang on a minute, how is it being spun that those with realistic expectations are the f*cking doom and gloom merchants?

Because they're not being realistic, they're being pessimistic. In the last twenty years, we've been in the Premier League for longer than we've been in the Championship.

Starts at around 19:30: http://talksport.com/football/sports-brief-murray-meets-phil-gartside-13082857573

Apparently it was Phil Brown who alerted him to the availability of Okocha and his 11 year old son Diddles who told him what a fantastic player he was.

I've got his sons phone number, he gave it me after my mate got chucked out at Hull for very little and suggested we contact him to put a complaint in, never got round to it though.

It's not pessimism to realise, after years of patching and skim jobs, the roof has finally been, necessarily, torn down and is being rebuilt properly...

Happen some would rather see us go for the quick fix again, get a shitload of high earners back on the books for a season 'where we belong' as whipping boys week-in week-out - and a instant return to 'where we historically don't belong...'

Anyhow, out of those 20 years (which, conveniently, cut off the beginnings of our rise), the 'majority in the top flight', we were relegated from it three times, 14th twice, 16th twice and 17th once.

This supports the view us 'pessimists' share, that we're, like many other clubs, more likely (of late) to inhabit the bottom reaches of the top flight or be challenging amid the upper part of the second tier...Statistics are usually a load of old bollocks anyway, so I'll stop writing bollocks.

As long as our financial footing is secure - long term, there's nowt wrong with flitting between the two top divisions in my book. It'll certainly keep things interesting. :)

What did he get chucked out for?

What did he get chucked out for?

Persistent standing / feet on the seat in front.

Bit of a piss take really as everyone was standing.

He was leathered though so reckon they were just looking to get him for something, he was refused any more alcohol at spoons in Hull at about 12.30.

I went to school with PG's lad - and he's absolutely sound.

Yeh, Andy Gartside.

Really good lad, offered to help out I just never bothered with it - could have probably got a few free tickets out of that, oh well.

I think if I was Gartside, I'd have kept my mouth shut about duping City out of 400k especially if he's part of the FA's committee.

Pretty sure they knew we'd got him on a free and it was there fault for titting around

I've been of the opinion seen worse hope for better enjoyed(been pissed) the lot.

Except when I've been sober

Pah

Just a point on the whole no relegation thing. IIRC it was something Garty was tasked with looking into by the premier league, rather than his own idea?
