So, it's like buying a Twix for 95p instead of a £1, despite the original estimate for the Twix being 95p?

You mean the original estimate being 25p

But yes, that's exactly it.

I reckon there could be a new economic model in the making - "The Twix Model" - there isn't a single fiscal issue that can't be properly explained to the man in the street using the "Twix Model"

Yes, mate: 25p, it was a typo.

Anyway, I'm copyrighting the term "Twixonomix"

It's a winner, I tell thee.

When that $45M from Prince Mbesuma Mbongo-Bongo arrives in my account (and he's promised it'll be this week, especially as I've just sent over £3K to "oil the wheels" shall we say) then I'll get it wired across to you straight away.

They should spend the money on levelling all platforms to the same height as the doors open across the country. Got on at Salford Central and it was a good 3/4 of a metre above the platform. Getting on with a pram is a fucking joke!

Got off at Bromley Cross and needed a parachute to get to the platform.

No rush, I'm using the same excuse funds to get in on Youri's excellent scheme.

More like buying.g a twix & a bounty for 95p with the original price for a twix alone being 25p, plus you know you're going to force someone to buy the wrappers afterwards as long as you buy a 25p mars bar and chuck that in with it

Sorry....

dunno how many on here are in construction

i'm on the edge of it...

be interested to hear what the wiggin builder thinks as i'm sure there will be stats that show it will create loads of jobs and wont actually cost owt

i'm guessing he'd prefer a similar amount on housing

Not really sure one way or another. If it was free (and by that I mean the financial gains to the economy are greater than the cost) then yes build it. TIf we listened to those who moan about development we would still be living in caves and pointing at the moon yet the same people still want bread on the shelves 24/7 at Tesco so fuck em.

I'm not convinced I need to be in London 15 minutes quicker anyway. Its only 1hr 46m from Warrington to Euston as it is; how faster does it need to be? But thats not the driving force behind it, its about a huge chuck on the rail infrastructure being improved which has to be a good thing surely?

As for job creation, not convinced its that good. Housing creates more jobs pound for pound than most construction sectors because there is a higher percentage spent on the labour element. All sorts of trades involved.

Every pound spent on a road (for example) is maybe 70% aggregates and tarmac, laid with large plant and machinery and not as much labour.

Housing is the bigger need. Massive problem. Not enough being built, too many people wanting them. Its a no brainer for and Gvt to fund/kickstart/invest in. Creates jobs, strong demand, boosts the economy, and there's always an asset with it.
