Why people get worked up when he clearly didn't mean it I have no idea, it's as if people are waiting and wanting to be offended.

October 17, 201312 yr It's all about context. Had Townsend been white then Hodgson would still have said what he said and it wouldn't have been a story. Hodgson's done nothing wrong here. Had he said what he said but then immediately said to Townsend, "Sorry, I didn't mean any offence by that" then that would've been far more offensive. He was using an analogy that had nothing to do with colour. It was unfortunate ... however it was only unfortunate because someone has leaked this to the press - whoever that scumbag was. I'm sure though that this will no doubt turn in to a 10 pager with all the usual bollocks spouted.
