October 26, 201312 yr Walking back to the car after that shower,my old man broke the silence, turned to me and said 'never give up son' I knew what he meant. Never give the match up,even when it's easy to miss. It'a right rigmarole for me to get to home game nowadays, but I know if i stop....I will never start again. I spoke to stevieb today who has his own issues.with new born babies and what not,Traf who has drive from up and beyond,Ani who legs it over the Pennines...all still going strong and all equally as pissed off. Everyone has their own story and nobody wanted to be there today. Nobody woke up this morning and thought "yes I'm going to the match" It's like a church, people go because they have to. But You just have to keep going. I've seen so many blokes who think "fuck this,I'm not paying for this" etc give it up,never to be seen again. You realise you can get up when you want on a Saturday, take the wife shopping and get back for soccer Saturday and drink as many cans as you want in your nice want house. You don't have to pay money to sit in a morgue like stadium watching utter crap, you can spend that money on a take away or whatever. It all becomes so easy. It's shite,it's over priced,it's cold and there are better things to do with a Saturday... But don't do it. Sometimes in life you have to make the uncomfortable choice. I urge, listen to my old man and Bolton stalwart for 60+ years.... never, ever give it up.... You won't come back.
October 26, 201312 yr He's proud his lad has the same love I reckon. When we was really shit, 82-onwards, our Christmas Day was spent at a family members house having dinner and looking forward for the Boxing Day game, we'd go wherever, the girls knew and respected that. That was the most important game of the season, most of the family together in the freezing cold with bad heads .
October 26, 201312 yr I gave up when we went to the reebok just never felt the same. Still love the club but when i do go i only feel disapointed. Hope dougie can turn it round because i feel the next manager we get could b make or break. Play the kids can't b any worse than what we have now.
October 26, 201312 yr We'll put,it's a testing time now and basically for me anyone who doesn't like it or thinks we should be too of the league can fuck off, want the glory there's 3 big teams in the area.
October 26, 201312 yr Gonzo, you know me and how much i,ve been but there seriously has to be something there now to get people back. It really is grim and i include last season in that, it is just so painful to watch. I wish it wasnt but freedmans biggest fan must admit this is an awful time to get the enthusiasm to go and watch the performances he turns out. I am not one for changing managers every 12 months but i cant see any chink of light there. Please prove me wrong mr freedman.
October 26, 201312 yr I've been to more games this season than I went to between the Wembley debacle and the end of last season. My youngest has got the bug now and she's rekindled my passion for the club. Plus they need me more now than they did. #stillashitfanbutnotasshitaslastyear
October 26, 201312 yr Fuck that...euro 96 ruined football in this country Edited October 26, 201312 yr by Bobcat

October 26, 201312 yr If I didn't have a season ticket, that garden fence that needs creosoting would start to look more attractive.
October 26, 201312 yr I've only missed one this season so far, and missed four in total last season. Football is my only vice, it's addictive, as soon as train tickets are available for away games I start planning, and first thing Sat morning all I want to do is get to the pub to have a laugh with the lads. Sometimes it's harder than others and home games can be painful but if we give up we are no better than the spineless fuckers on the pitch. I'll always be there, it's either in you or it isn't.

Truly Churchillian, I raise my glass to you sir!
October 27, 201312 yr If I didn't have a season ticket, that garden fence that needs creosoting would start to look more attractive. I've openly discussed buying a half ST at Xmas for me and the little one and I've not had an ST for about 4 years now.
October 27, 201312 yr I can confirm once you stop going you find other stuff to do. Went to Cardiff today watching England. Had a great day and laughed constantly. It is a ball ache going to football these days. I hope I get the bug properly again but it's too easy to do other things that are more fun / don't require loads of travelling
October 27, 201312 yr They have my money (season ticket), I used to have shares, I joined Lifeline when it started (recently stopped it though), I'll always support the club, I'd always come back, and I never find other things to do on a Saturday afternoon in the season - it's always football. BUT ..... I don't see the need to turn up at the Reebok or wherever for all the matches when the football is so dire. I'm getting on, I can't afford to waste my time & energy until there''s some meaningful progress towards re-building club & team.
October 27, 201312 yr Serious lump in the throat and tear in the eye with that post Gonz my take is I'm never giving up on BWFC I miss the odd home game when I'm out of the country which is now becoming more often but if I'm in the UK I will always be at the Reebok I can always find some positive however bad we are might be spending time with my lad might be just sharing a beer with a mate or even a brief chat or laugh with the east Stand social club, BWFC is a great institution a great historic club I won't be quitting any time soon and just a couple of wins will bring back a better feel.
October 27, 201312 yr Things aren't good for us at the moment, but there's a lot of over reaction. Were still in the second league of English football, for those that can remember we have been a lot lower. Support wise a lot haven't been around long enough and only know the Premiership. As a club were having a dip in fortunes, it happens, we will be back. True supporters will stick with it. Glory hunters will leave. I wasn't born in Bolton, I don't live in Bolton, but I'll always be there. BTID.

I might add in our clubs hour of need lets support it, we will come through the other side and it will then be all the sweeter.
October 27, 201312 yr No matter how shit we are, I will never stop going. Balls to all the glory hunting shit impatient fans, they can go and support Citeh or Scum.
October 27, 201312 yr I can confirm once you stop going you find other stuff to do. That's why the club need to be careful. 15,000 yesterday isn't a bad gate considering our league position but if things continue to drift, many of those that have taken a break won't come back.
October 27, 201312 yr True supporters will stick with it. Glory hunters will leave. Bollocks. Some of those who pick and choose these days were going week in week out back when the club almost disappeared for good. If it weren't for those 'glory hunters', there might not be a BWFC now.
October 27, 201312 yr Home games might be a chore but I don't care how shit we are I can't wait for Bournemouth next weekend, I've been looking forward to it for months
October 27, 201312 yr Gonzo, I think your dad needs to have a word with me like that I genuinely filled up reading that

I urge, listen to my old man and Bolton stalwart for 60+ years.... never, ever give it up.... You won't come back. I have 'give it up' a few times for the likes of playing myself for many years (but I went as much as I could then) and living a long way from Bolton as I have done for the last 26 years. Not been this season at all due to working in London and not having the opportunity. It is in my blood though and I live it day in day out and I cant see me being any different. Last season I went an hand full of home games but probably went about 15 away. It pisses me off to see the demise and how it could have been prevented with the right decisions. I long for the day when the new SJM or Andy Walker arrives or a McAteer comes through the ranks and we start the ball rolling again; with the EIEIEIO's ringing round the grounds and feeling confident no matter who we face. Last seasons push was false IMO because, apart from a couple of games, our football was crap and we stole many points. It is dire at the moment but you have to keep the faith and hopefully soon we will have the players to turn on the style again and getting the Bolton army back to what it should be. PS - I will be back soon with Watford my first game of the season (0-3 )
October 27, 201312 yr Author Gonzo, I think your dad needs to have a word with me like that I genuinely filled up reading that It was if to say...don't even think about it son! Probably because I'd spent 3 hours previously plus the last 4 home games moaning what a ball ache it is to go and how shit everything is! Haha
