Leyther_Matt Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Craig Davies would offer more than Mason in that sort of role. He perked up a bit second half when he got in behind them a couple of times and then came up with fuck all end product, but he really does lack any sort of presence to play as a lone striker. Quote
Casino Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 oh, and to the zat knight knockers, just fcuk off excellent today Quote

John Thomas Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Tom eaves as lone striker? Is that the guy who kept SKD out of the team for the play off push last season. Amazing where he's plying his trade now, is it La Liga. Love an explanation on this from Douglas. He's as bad as Coyle as making it up as he goes along. I'd prefer Megson , amazing to say it to either of those clowns Quote

Leyther_Matt Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 oh, and to the zat knight knockers, just fcuk off excellent today Agreed. Danns-Knight-McNaughton for me today in that order. Thought Ream wasn't up to his recent standards mind and Baptiste had a stinking first half. Quote

Thought Ream wasn't up to his recent standards mind and Baptiste had a stinking first half. Even down the internet it seemed like Lonergan was MOM, and regarding Knight I suppose it's better late than never some would say its about his level against a side destined for League one, on the positives Dann and Mcnaughton are just the type we need to steady the ship hopefully we can get them back, happy with the win and as been said were 8 points off play offs a win at Leicester would convince me we have a chance of reaching the play offs. I wouldn't say Lonergan necessarily had to come up with any worldies as they were generally shots from distance that he was dealing with apart from one corking chance early on, free header from a free kick. Always felt pretty safe with him in goal though which is always a bonus. Plus I don't think I've ever known a back up keeper to have so many different chants dedicated to him! Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 freedman knows all about beckford and did before he signed him To be fair though Cas, people can change. You just said before that Davies of 5 years ago would thrive in this formation. Maybe Beckford has taken a turn for the worse since the last time Freedman worked with him? Quote
Casino Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 possibly but i thought the point was over his attitude all that comes out is that hes a cracking lad lonergans two best moments where when a mcnaughton header sold him short and the cracker at the death of the first half Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I disagree, I thought that the fans getting behind the team changed the game. We got behind them and they responded in kind. Great support today. The fans backing second half got a response but it needed a little bit of something to spark that backing off, that for me was us upping the tempo from the off and Pratley in particular making a couple of willing runs that caused things to happen in front of our end. There'd been precious little before half time, hence the massive queues for the beer bar ten minutes before half time and the boos when they went off. Quote

If we were six up at half time there would a queue for the bar. Quote
Casino Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 a few post match shenanigans at the top end of the car park post match real punches landed too looked like barnsley came looking for it and got the best of the early exchanges more bolton arrived a bit more punching and then barnsley scarpered Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 lonergans two best moments where when a mcnaughton header sold him short and the cracker at the death of the first halfAgree, two top pieces of goalkeeping, was up quick off the save you mentioned to make sure O'Grady didn't squeeze the next ball in Quote

Traf Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Support was superb today, as were Lonergan and Knight. Zat was better in the air than he ever has been since joining us and he took his fair share of stick from Barnsleys players. Danns goes missing, but he makes things happen when he's interested, good finish. Davies anonymous 1st half, but once he saw more of the ball we looked a better team. Disappointed if Masons the best we've got available though. Quote
