Mounts Kipper Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 RIP, very sad news indeed. How many Wanderers travelled to that 1-0 at OT? Not a game Ive ever heard much about, seems to slip through the net between the stories of the games in late 70's and the Premier League ones It was 10,000, the walk with 300 Bolton lads down sir matt busby way was exhilarating absolutely loved them snarling at us from the other side of the road they weren't brave enough to cross it though. RIP Compo. Quote
BL3 white Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Good pairing him and Winnie rip. I think we could of sold 25,000 easy for the scum match. Remember queuing for tickets for hours they went all the way to the college. We went on a coach and a car with scum fans were trading hand jestures with lads on the coach. We got stuck in aa traffic jam and all the lads jumped out and jumped all over their car smashing it. Ace for a lad to see on his 15th birthday. Quote
DazBob Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Kinell, was only reminiscing about him and similar players of that era two nights ago. RIP Compo. Quote
Happy Wanderer Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 RIP I remember those 2 goals he scored against Bournemouth straight from the corner. We had another corner shortly after which he took of course. The whole ground held their breath as he approached the ball, soon as he kicked it an almighty roar went up as it curled in on goal hoping for 3 out of 3, sadly it didn't go in. Quote
victor meldrew Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 RIP, an honest footballer, not the best, but honest. would have probably been booed by todays fans. Quote
Thorpey Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 RIP Compo. An honest lad who tried his best. Thanks for the memories. Quote
Alf Hartigan Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Thought he was a better player than the level we were at. Only 49 games for us, seemed like more. Quote
marple whites Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Nearly a hat trick against Bournemouth, rip big man, always sad to lose one of our own. Quote
Biggish Dave Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 That lumbering running style of his made sure you couldn't mistake him for anyone else. RIP Compo Quote
