frank_spencer Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 If stumping up the extra cash for commons didn't pay off and put us even further over the ffp threshold it could scupper us next season and beyond. Finances in the championship are a balancing act. Quote
onlyoneawalker Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) With Clough and mavies do we need him and do we need at decent money age 31? For me we've got our commons type player in Danns and at the right money when I say type player I mean experience and regular starter - Lenny needs to dig out a 20 goal a season forward from somewhere not necessarily in jan Edited February 1, 2015 by onlyoneawalker Quote

Sweep Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Just looked, and Commons let his contracts run down and left for nothing at both Stoke and Forest. He's only ever gone for a transfer fee once in his career. Quote

tylswhite Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I want a run to the playoffs as much as anyone but if we gamble now and try to take a shortcut it could fuck us up big time. I think we have to be patient and happy with the building Lenny has done so far. The foundations are there for a good run next season and with a full off season to tinker with his squad i think we will be right up there next season. Quote
snowball Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Lennon likes Commons, would like to sign him if the chance arises. If you actually look under the bullshit in the press, especially the hapless Bolton News, its pretty obvious he is not coming here at least in this transfer window. Nowt to do with chucking some money at it from the club or lack of ambition etc etc. The player and his agent are in control, not going to leave a big club who don't want him to go yet (Titles and cups at stake), when the best time financially for him & agent to make a decision is at the end of season. He's not coming, never has been (see also Hooper) let's just let this go and get some deals in that are doable right now. Quote
Sweep Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Why was he staying in the hotel then.........☺ Quote
MalcolmW Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Just looked, and Commons let his contracts run down and left for nothing at both Stoke and Forest. He's only ever gone for a transfer fee once in his career. and that transfer from Derby to Celtic came 2 months after his first Scotland appearance. As he only qualified through a Scottish grandparent it made sense to showcase his talents in Scotland, and both Celtic and Rangers were interested. Quote
Guest Blixa Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 An absolute screamer and a brilliant assist for the first from him as well. Think that 30 minutes puts that one to bed. Another opportunity to sign quality missed for a measly amount of money. Disappointing. That's the most ridiculous comment I've read on here this year. And that includes the 'hotel' gossip. Quote
Guest Blixa Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Why was he staying in the hotel then.........☺ Apparently it was that well known Kris Commons impersonator, Kris Common As Muck. Apparently you can book him for a 'measly' amount of money. I read it on Facebook. Quote

Traf Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Apparently it was that well known Kris Commons impersonator, Kris Common As Muck. Apparently you can book him for a 'measly' amount of money. I read it on Facebook. It was actually his twin brother Tom. Commons was never coming. Here we go... Commons is out of contract soon. Commons played for Lennon at Celtic Lennon, when asked if he'd like to have Commons here at Bolton, said he obviously would. On the internet and in the press, this means Lennon has said he's buying Commons. In the real world, it means nothing. Quote

frank_spencer Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Came for talks. Mark? I know we brought Eidur back but i'd say he's a touch too old. Quote
Carlos Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 Surely as Celtic are such a well run club he's on a 5 year contract which they've made him sign? Quote
Traf Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 But Traf, that doesn't explain why he was staying at the hotel the other week It was a groupon deal. Quote

Reality is that qe haven't been given a chance. To blame the club for not spending 'measly' money is laughable and ridiculous. Quote
L/H White Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Bolton and Sheffield Wednesday are chasing highly-rated Carlisle midfielder Kyle Dempsey. #bwfc #swfc #cufc Quote
awandering Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Nixon is probably right, we are looking at several players, one or two may even sign. It's hardly rocket science to suggest we are looking at several positions, you only need to listen to comments about being short on numbers. Quote
Crispychips Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Dempsey sounds plausible. We would be well aware of all carlisle players having sent Teo of our kids there on loan. They would presumably have been watched. Quote
