Zico Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 i am not a doom and gloomer, infact im much more in the deluded/blind faith camp but im sick to death of there being an excuse for every single thing we are 3rd bottom in the championship and our wage budget would suggest we should be top half i don't understand how people can't see that this is yet another small part of us being fucking dog shit. we are not sunday league, we are in the championship. a top 10 league in the world. yet our captain is on the smash in ibiza 3 weeks into the season. it's a fucking joke this can soon be resolved if you put casino and snoop on ignore Quote
DaveTheRave Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Are people wanting footballers to be in work 7 days a week? i say work because it is a job. just like any other. It isn't a job just like any other though. Quote
Casino Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Training could also be about how to pass & move, how to make space to receive a pass, how to control the ball & pass it one quickly, fcuking hell do you actually believe this shit? Quote
davidjack Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Sounds eminently sensible to me. And the evidence is before our eyes, on a weekly basis, that it isn't happening. Quote
tylswhite Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 fcuking hell do you actually believe this shit? Depends what we are believing. What Rembrandt has mentioned there, we are fucking shocking at as a team. Even Bury and Crewe schooled us on them attributes, made us look amateur. Quote

tylswhite Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 not being funny, but if you cant do that stuff at 25, you aint ever doing it 2 days aint making a difference, anyway Agree with the two days bit but I think a proper coach can instill a philosophy and improve players at any age. This is more down to Dougies failings rather than 2 days on the piss imo. Quote

tylswhite Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 makes you wonder why proper coaches are forever using the transfer market and not just getting their players in on a sunday Buying good players is a shortcut and easier if you have the cash. Also extra training of the same stuff wouldn't make any difference as it currently isn't working is it? Sadly we don't have cash or a decent gaffer so we are struggling a bit. Quote
Big E Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 It isn't a job just like any other though. Why isn't it? you are employed to do a job. when you are no longer required your employment is stopped Quote
Garrp Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Why isn't it? you are employed to do a job. when you are no longer required your employment is stopped It's not the same though. When my firm decide they don't want me they make me redundant or sack me. Either way I get a small part of my wage. If Bolton decide they want rid, they haveto pay a nice juicy contract up in full. SalfordOriginal Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 (edited) Are people wanting footballers to be in work 7 days a week? i say work because it is a job. just like any other. Not work 7 days a week but ensure they are as close to physical peakness for the 9-10 months of the year. The majority of the general public can get away with being overweight or only being 90% on a monday morning for their jobs. Professional athletes cannot be afforded this luxury, especially when everyone is looking for even 1-2% improvements with other scientific technique........ On the flip side footballers are paid massive sums for this commitment compared to the man in the street. The tired response of "its only a short career" is invalid in todays world of inflated footballers salaries as the majority of the 1st team will earn more in a single BWFC contract than the majority of us in our working lifetimes. Getting wasted in Ibiza a month into the season might be ok if you're an out of shape office worker but not for a footballer imo. Quote

Traf Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Footballers should have a day off in the week and Sundays off after a Saturday game. They should be at the club 5 days a week whether there are games or not. They don't have to do physical training every day. They could watch DVDs of future opponents and plan tactics. They could go and see the dying kids in hospitals and give toys out. Whatever etc etc but not on the piss in Ibiza and up to the eyes in jermaine beakford. Quote

COYW Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 not being funny, but if you cant do that stuff at 25, you aint ever doing it 2 days aint making a difference, anyway There's always areas you can improve on though. Allardyce once said that teaching a team to defend was the easy part. He would just work on it over and over again on the training ground until it became second nature. There's that bit in the 'Big Ron Manager' series when Peterborough's manager tells his players that Bolton spend hours and hours every week practicing how to defend, which is why they're good at it. Casino Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 there are which is why i wouldn't argue that coaching cant improve set pieces and general in game organisation but to suggest the answer to our inability to pass a ball well lies in not practicing (c or s, oh dear) it, nah, im not having it and i dont see any point doing it day after day after day players had time off under allardyce i seem to remember they fcuked off in that 6 game run of defeats we got all the same moans and groans Quote
Gumbo Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Jussi used to spend all afternoon on a Friday watching the next days opponents free kicks, pens, shape when shooting, either at euxton or on the team bus. Quote

The team should be prepared for every outcome and practicing a whole range of skills along with watching opponents and all that stuff. If your doing shit then the efforts should be even more. Not oh well you wont improve at this age anyway see you Saturday. Quote
