jules_darby Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 lets be honest, a lot of the feet stamping and wailing is because there's pictures surfaced of a rich young lad whose team are doing bad does anybody think they'd otherwise have sat at home drinking ribena? fwiw, i wish they didn't sup to excess (assuming spearing has done) but its no worse him doing it spain than it would be in formby i feel like i need a drink most weekends and i've not been called shit for the last 6 weeks! Oh yes you have I'm still in the camp of saying that none of us will possibly know if the negative physiological effects of the travel and booze etc, or the positive psychological effects of sunshine, a break from the negativity etc will prevail until we see the next game or two This is because it would be different for different teams, individuals and under different circumstances Therefore let's talk about summat else and wait and see. Then when we see the performance we can say DF and co were right or wrong......after all it's not the means that we are bothered about, it's the end...which will be a result a week on Saturday...and if we win - just maybe that's because of them letting their hair down..... Jules says relax Quote
Gumbo Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Pros have always done it. The only difference is now it's highlighted through social media. And at a time when we are as supporters pissed off with the team / club etc I can bet spearing will have another picture on Instagram with his young niece at home within a week. And wheater walking his dogs in the country. Quote
tylswhite Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 murray doesn't drink farah runs twice as fast as ryan usain bolt eats big macs question is this - would spearing play better against sheff wed if he hadn't been to ibiza? Who knows but I do know its much more likely to make him play worse than better if it has any effect at all. Quote
jules_darby Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 if it's fine presumably marc iles is lying about there being an internal investigation at the club. or maybe dougie agrees There's another possibility The club may have realised the support has backlashed and are attempting PR Quote
Casino Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 if it's fine presumably marc iles is lying about there being an internal investigation at the club. or maybe dougie agrees marc iles will print what he's told the club will try to appease the twittermongs i'd ignore the fcukers fwiw how do you think the investigation goes jay, did you go to ibiza at weekend yes why cos i had days off ok, jog on Quote
Casino Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Who knows but I do know its much more likely to make him play worse than better if it has any effect at all. physically, it won't help but mentally? so much of this is mental maybe he does care maybe he spends every waking hour fretting who knows i don't you don't Quote
Casino Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 oh aye, and i know you're (relatively) sane but i don't see what a jay spearing witch hunt achieves i'd say iles has taken a hell of a gamble with his piece unless he knows hes leaving the 2 bob local rag Quote
Carlos Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I think we can safely say no sports psychologist recommends going getting mullered to sort your head out. Quote
Garrp Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 i am not a doom and gloomer, infact im much more in the deluded/blind faith camp but im sick to death of there being an excuse for every single thing we are 3rd bottom in the championship and our wage budget would suggest we should be top half i don't understand how people can't see that this is yet another small part of us being fucking dog shit. we are not sunday league, we are in the championship. a top 10 league in the world. yet our captain is on the smash in ibiza 3 weeks into the season. it's a fucking joke Quote
COYW Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 It's not just about what they do when they have a couple of days off, it's having a couple of days off at all, having had another abysmal start to the season. Surely Dougie should be on our training ground rather than one up in Scotland, putting in an extra couple of days preparation with the players, to try to put things right? Quote

I know he lives not too far from me and im sure there is a house recently up for sale that I thought could have been his. Might explain it if it is his etc. Quote

I'm the of the same opinion. But you are bang on when you say there is an excuse for everything. I'm not sure if its at boardroom level, management or player level (I suspect a bit of all 3) but someone isn't doing their job to the maximum as we should be a top half championship team. Quote
COYW Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 training can carry on without the manager present ...but not without the players present. Quote
Casino Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 so, would you have trained every day between leeds and sheff weds? in fact, i dunno why i'm even interested for me, they need to be worked, but not every fcuking day its about peaking for matches Quote
Garrp Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 for me, they need to be worked, but not every fcuking day its about peaking for matches exactly and you don't 'peak' for a match by being in ibiza on the smash 12 days before. that isn't opinion, that's fact. Quote
COYW Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 for me, they need to be worked, but not every fcuking day its about peaking for matches Sometimes it can be counterproductive to do too much but i think it was foolish to allow the players and manager to take time out when we're in the bottom three with one point. Allardyce went through a spell of allowing the players not to train at all between games but it was at the end of the season when we were on a six game winning streak. Quote

DaveTheRave Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 2 days off a week Sunday and Monday.......Dont see anything wrong with that Do you think somebody who spends Sunday and Monday getting wasted in Ibiza is going to be fit for work on Tuesday? Quote
Rembrandt Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Training doesn't have to be only about hard work on physical/stamina improvement, though some of them could do with it. Training could also be about how to pass & move, how to make space to receive a pass, how to control the ball & pass it one quickly, how to defend as a team, how to keep a defensive line, and even how to recognise a white shirt from a red or blue or yellow or orange or green or purple or yellow-polka-dot shirt. Fook knows there's vast room for improvement at the moment (and for the last 2-3 seasons). Quote
Big E Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Do you think somebody who spends Sunday and Monday getting wasted in Ibiza is going to be fit for work on Tuesday? No worse than someone who spends Sunday and Monday in the UK getting wasted. Quote
Big E Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Are people wanting footballers to be in work 7 days a week? i say work because it is a job. just like any other. Quote
