I've similar feelings about the whole episode really. Team doesn't play for 13 days on an International break and the non called up players get time off. I'd expect young rich lads to go abroad if told they've got some time to themselves especially after what was probably a physically harsh pre-season, regardless of how shit we're doing on the pitch.

 

The problem I think is the PR nightmare that this and the Beckford thing have created, contributing to an already very strained situation. Those photos don't come out - or if the Spearing one was taken maybe seconds earlier when he might not have been gurning so much (!) - then there's much less of a reaction.

 

I say all this, yet I've still not been as down in the dumps about Wanderers as I am now in a long time.

I've not seen anything about either except for on this forum. I even did searches for "Beckford", "Spearing", "Bolton Ibiza" etc. on bbc and sky sports and found nothing. There's a small story on the Bolton news site, but 69% of people there didn't care that he made a "gesture".

We don't have a game for nearly 2 weeks, and they go the first few days of that time. I'm certain that 8 or 9 days should be more than enough time to recover.

You wont find many other places reporting about Bolton apart from our local paper and the supporters forums, it was hard enough seeing broader media give a shit about us in the Premier League so theyre not about to start now. I've not seen a poll, but to be fair yeah the comments I've seen on BN have been balanced - however under the current circumstances, I would call recent days a PR nightmare.

 

Relations between club and fans are at the lowest Ive seen since starting going in 1994 - see the atmosphere for yourself against Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham. A banging drum and some spray paint in the North Stand wont mask it.

when we had quality like Djorkaeff, Okocha and Anelka they didn't go out getting pissed. Now we have second rate players with  a second rate attitude. Most of our opponents won't be out getting pissed.
