tylswhite Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) Fair point, but we spent lots of money, but we got somewhere. The debt has continued to grow if anything quicker as we have dropped down. That debt has hampered us more since we have come down as obviously we haven't got as much coming in. Its more down to what we had to do to compete at premier league level that has got us in this mess than bad management imo. Had we spent less we could have been up and down never making an impact and not having what we have had. Not too long back nobody liked playing us and we were a force to be reckoned with. We could never have done that without sailing close to the wind imo. We are now paying for the glory years really. Its a bit like most of us lot when we went around Europe on tour, we were paying for it a long while after Edited July 15, 2014 by tylswhite Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Taken directly from the paper: .....Phil Gartside said "The funding requirement has been met" The news came as it emerged Bolton had signed over parachute payments to Barclays. Wanderers were due to receive £10.1million from the Premier League for the coming season. But just as before the 2012/13 season - which was the clubs first back in the Championship after relegation - they agreed to divert the cash to the bankers. Accounts for that season showed how much the club depends on Barclays and Davies, whose Moonshift investments company is owed more than £151million by Bolton...... Does that mean we've paid our 10 million overdraft back to Barclays? Meaning we now owe no one but Eddie? Quote
bgoefc Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Can't see the first 6 years in the premier being responsible for the majority of todays total. The hotel seems to have turned out to be a horrendous mistake. I am worried that administration may not be too far away. Quote

Rembrandt Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) I am in the Horwich camp the premiership for clubs like BWFC without money is like death by a thousand cuts. Only if you spend more than the Prem money coming in, Mounts. I still find it impossible to believe :- a ) We spent £150m+ over and beyond income over the last 13-14 years (even allowing starting with the Reebok/Burnden 'miscalculation' debt of £25m). b ) PG and ED and all the accountants let such a thing happen on their watch. Just my gut feeling. Edited July 15, 2014 by Rembrandt Quote
Rembrandt Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 The simple truth is that well supported clubs will prosper, and parochial clubs like ours will survive. Survive on the back of benevolent owners or an utter refusal to pay the wages needed to get anywhere near the "big time". In a nutshell, Spider. And the less money you can spend, the more important good management (off & on the field) becomes. Quote
