Mounts Kipper Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I am in the Horwich camp the premiership for clubs like BWFC without money is like death by a thousand cuts. Quote

tylswhite Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 fook me, i had you down as one of the brighter ones I was thinking he must be having us on! Quote
Horwich Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 We are just a badly run club. We had many chances to improve the club, facilities and turnover and we have messed it up for good. Quote

Horwich Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Whats that got to do with how the club has been managed?? Anyone who thinks Bwfc had been ran well in the last 10 years is a fucking idiot Quote
Horwich Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Idea 1 - dont spunk 110% of your turnover on wages Quote

We are a badly run business pretty sure that is a fact. The job Norwich does, whatever it is, unless he is a Management Consultant advising the football industry on how to run a business, makes him no better or worse than anyone else at judging how we are run. But does anyone think we have been run well in recent years ? Quote

Anyone who thinks Bwfc had been ran well in the last 10 years is a fucking idiot There isn't a good way to run a football club, not one Bolton's size. They don't make money. Hard to do anything about that. Quote

Horwich Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 How do we compare to wigan? Iro how we have been managed? Quote
tylswhite Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 How do we compare to wigan? Iro how we have been managed? One difference. Whelan wiped all the money owed to him, Eddie hasn't (yet). Quote
Spider Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I still can't believe people compare running a professional football club to ANY other type of business. There simply is no like for like comparison. Not one. The wages are insanity, no other business has a wage bill that accounts for pretty much it's entire turnover. None. There's no secrets, no cover ups, no vendettas against one or the other. The simple truth is that well supported clubs will prosper, and parochial clubs like ours will survive. Survive on the back of benevolent owners or an utter refusal to pay the wages needed to get anywhere near the "big time". Boooo. Quote
Guest Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Utter bollocks! Perhaps you can show how many clubs our size have actuallymade money? Even the the biggest clubs in this country and Europe have huge debts. Quote

Do your own homework, I'm not your teacher. Football clubs can choose to work within their budgets, projected forecasts etc. Or they can choose to piss in the wind, chase the dream, be mugged off by agents & players. Of course they can make money, that's down to management. You're having the wool pulled over your eyes by some myth banded about in back street boozers, by some bloke that couldn't spell P&L, let alone recognise one. Quote

Southampton? Admittedly one out of many others. That said weren't they were fucked before the crane guy came in. Quote

I ask again, does anyone think we have been a well run club in last 3-4 years ? We were brilliantly run for a long time, we punched way above expectations because of good appointments, adapting to latest training methods and innovative approach to transfers (youri, jay jay etc) I am not comparing us to a company I mean as a football club, we have been a shambles at times. The saddest thing is that you can look at the FA cup semi final as the time if became clear that it had started to go wrong. Brilliant we had got there, helped by all good stuff from previous years building a base, but since then ? A fucking shambles. Quote

Its that stuff that played a big part in putting us so much in debt. Quote

BOWTUN BAKED Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Why would any football club, not having to appease shareholders, want to show a profit? What happens if they do? Think about it. Quote
Ani Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 How can you say that? Its that stuff that played a big part in putting us so much in debt. Fair point, but we spent lots of money, but we got somewhere. The debt has continued to grow if anything quicker as we have dropped down. Quote
