Spider Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Everyone's talking like they think Pulis even knows our name. It's Dougie for a while yet, so why not give the club some support? A positive atmosphere might just help. Radical, I know. Quote
tylswhite Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 apart from the periods when we've put decent runs together? Trouble is them periods are too rare. The occasional good run of results doesn't make you a good manager. Our team has looked a shambles for a good while now. Watford and Bury were embarrassing for long spells. I hope it changes and I will give my full support like I always do but I get the feeling things wont change. Hopefully im just a stupid fan who doesn't know shit and Dougie is a genius waiting to happen. Quote

A positive atmosphere can help though. Was about 300 at Brum last season, sang Beckford's name from minute one, he went on to have one of his better games for us, scored and we won. Maybe we would have won anyway but maybe it just helped Quote

jules_darby Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I an not anti a positive atmosphere not do I advocate booing, but the buck has to stop with Douglas & co, just as the praise does when they are successful As for Pulis, I can't see it happening in a million years Quote
Casino Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I'm just grateful the internet didn't exist during Phil Neal's six years. anybody who started watching us in 1990 has had it easy til the last couple of years you can see em now, bawling their eyes out but at least you can see why folk in their mid 30s are acting like kids who have had their teddy bear taken off them i don't get the moaning owd duffers why the fcuk would you watch us for 50 odd years if its so fcuking shit you'd have stopped in the 80s surely Quote

mickbrown Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 You know it's all about the shit times as well as the good. That's what makes the good times so brilliant Doesn't mean we can't have a right good old moan when we are shit though. By the way, for the avoidance of doubt, we are proper shit now. Quote
jules_darby Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 i've had enough of the boo boys im fed up of going to the game and getting into arguments with cunts im a few games away from getting my head kicked in for defending and supporting my team i think big e said he didn't do watford because he was fed up with them too theres many, many more who feel the same nah, Big E was busy with his house But you were referencing your team not getting (who I assume you think is) a good Manager because of the boo boys It's like saying you hate them more than you love your team As an aside it was blaming them for Megson's exit......just like folk are trying to blame them for DF's shite. Both are wrong and their failures are down to them being shite Managers, irrespective of the boo boys Quote

Both are wrong and their failures are down to them being shite Managers, irrespective of the boo boys Personally I think he's a great manager but not for us, so I wouldn't want him. In my view he would sort us out in the short term but not in the long run. I could just see the irony in Pulis telling us to fuck off because of how our fans behaved towards his mate, as id guess the majority of the booers (who boo everyone, not just megson) would want Pulis. and for Ziggy, I didn't suggest he would. Quote
Garrp Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 for the record though i do question why i bother i get grief from all my team for being off every away game when i should be working. i spend a fortune on it, i then have to get into work at 8am on the sunday whilst everyone is sleeping off their hangover. boo hoo, im not looking for sympathy, i love it but losing every week doesn't piss me off anywhere near as much as it does arguing and sooner or later getting a crack by people who add nothing and create a negative impact on the team no matter how shit we and druggie greedman are. Guest Blixa Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Pulis ain't coming Dougie ain't going We're one league game in and still a bit of time off the transfer window and loan window closing If Dougie gets the push, it'll be 10 games in or beyond - and things would have to be bad at that point In the meantime, grit your teeth and do a bit of supporting. Or take up DIY or fishing at the weekend. Quote

gonzo Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Ah I get it now. We have to put up with crap, mind numbingly boring games of football because we were even shitter in the 80's? Even though we are all stumping up our hard earned money to support the club,we all have to smile and get on with things? I don't advocate booing for one single second and any fucker on Saturday getting on the players back will get told to shut the fuck up. But if folk pay their money their entitled to whatever opinion they want. It make no odds to me where the club has been for the past 20/30 years,I just want to enjoy my days at the match watching a regime that looks like it knows what it's doing. I've seen anything but that for ages. Will it stop me going and supporting the club? Will it fuck. Quote
RONNIE PHILLIPS Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Like most Cas I'd never go down the route of booing my team, however venting my frustrations on a forum is much the same as having a good old whine in the pub post match....it don't matter how many people do it, the players can't hear it so it's of no detriment to them, anymore than your constant defence of Dougie will inspire him. As for our spells of good form, on the whole the football we played was pretty turgid but I'd take that all day if he would just stop meddling with his selections to counteract shit teams & be bold enough to let the opposition worry about us. As for the 80s I, like yourself no doubt, remember how poisonous the atmosphere was that day at Chester & imo Phil Neal was working under just as much of a handicap as Dougie, so I'd say he's not been treated too harshly by the fans so far. I will continue to criticise or praise where I see fit & will be the 1st to hold my hand up ( be delighted to do see) should Dougie come good. Quote
Not in Crawley Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I'll admit, I've not been to a match since Dougie has been in charge. I even sacked off Crawley away. I'm a shit fan of that I make no bones. I'm just not feeling it anymore, I don't know if that's because I hear we are really bad or because I have other commitments but I'm just not inspired to pay money to watch this. I'd rather do something else. You can slag me but I'm pretty sure I'm not alone. Maybe when the kids are grown I'll get back into it as my Dad did, I'll always be Bolton but I associate that with at least some passion, belief and desire. Those are three things it seems we just haven't have for the past couple of years. If the team can't, how can they expect us to? Quote
COYW Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 oh aye, he kept us up in that first season, make no mistake we were going down To be fair he also kept us up last season after we'd had our worst start in over 100 years under, er... oh hang on. Quote

jules_darby Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 oh theres a surprise one of the ones who has had it fcuking easy I started in the 80's when we were shit But so what Stop trying to use the Douglas deflector Nonw of your jibes improve your loved one's management performance Quote
Whites man Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Where I am at if anyone is interested; Dougie is a better manager than the last one, Last season he had circa £45k per week of his wage budget tied up in 2 players who didn't want to play for the club, Mears and Eagles. And that's before considering Ngog. He has an eye for a player, eg Juke & Mason. Comparing him to previous managers without considering the financial element is a pointless exercise. Sure some of the football last season was dull but I have never been as bored at the Wanderers than in Allardyce's last season when the long ball got longer. Quote
RoadRunnerFan Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) Agree with Whites Man all bar the last line, wasn't bored at Blackburn or being third in the league. Think we view BSA's final season in retrospect as worse than it actually was. Edited August 15, 2014 by RoadRunnerFan Quote
