After many years of thinking live & let live with religion & being an agnostic, now a confirmed atheist I have trouble with the ethical aspects of all religions, none more so though than Islam. I do not see that tens of thousands feel similarly. And even if they did it was him who had the courage of his convictions and the bravery to go and help. Naïve perhaps but so what? It takes bravery to do what he did. We are a nation built on the bravery and selflessness of people like Alan Henning and he should be remembered as nothing short of a hero.

They surely don't support the total freedom of speech or they'd let the far right have a voice rather than shout them down. They cherry pick who does & doesn't have a right to free speech.

If they were campaigning for a ban on far right demos - that would be hypocritical. If they turn up to counterprotest, that's just them exercising their right to free speech. That's how I see it anyway.

 

My main point is, that it gets on my nerves when people try to make out that just because your politics might be left of centre, that this makes you a supporter of radical Islam. It's I a daft notion and pretty offensive.
