Maybe he could come back temporarily as a coach, and inject some enthusiasm & fight into the current squad.

Another Wanderers legend.

totally agree but legend? Maybe could of been up there but a legend needs to play more than 30 odd games for me.

I'll go with cult hero rather than legend. Those that saw him play and his attitude off the pitch will always hold him in high regard.

If the 11 players on the pitch at any one time over the past 4 years had shown a fraction of the grit and determination that that lad has we'd still be a Premier League side. Proud to have had him as a Wanderer and wish him all the very best in the future. Would be wonderful to see him in a white shirt again.

If he plays again i'd imagine Coyle and Houston would be very high up his list

Just being allowed to carry on his career for a few years - at whatever level - is nothing less than he deserves.

Did Evans ever apologise for that tackle btw?

For those who need a reminder of that goal

Will always remember that game as one of my favourites, 10 men, just conceded, big punt down the middle, scenes of chaos.

Love it

Some nice memories, but I can't see him playing top flight again and if he does, will be in the USA.

I don't feel much empathy/sympathy towards modern day footballers, but this guy comes across as being very special.

I'd just love for him to make it back to the game, even if it's not in a Bolton shirt. He's one of the few who deserves a bit of luck.

Hope Holden has success whatever he decides to do next. Easy to think he was injury prone, but really throughout his career he has had a series of absolutely freak injuries. The Evans tackle could easily have done little internal damage, didn't Rooney have similar later on but no real long term damage? He's been so unlucky. I hope he makes a successful playing return but if not (and I suspect not) he finds something else that he becomes brilliant at.

He spent so long rehabbing the knee Evans fucked up then the other one went whilst playing for the USA.

Brilliant player ruined by bad luck
