February 6, 201511 yr Why does it make it different? Carlisle has been caught drink driving 5 times now, and has doubtless done it a few times without being caught. He's shown a complete disregard for other people's safety every time he's done that and also with his suicide attempt. This cunt deserves no sympathy at all. He's played the depression card to deflect away from his crimes. I doubt Lee Hughes or Ched Evans would have been afforded the same public sympathy if they'd declared that they were depressed when they committed their crimes. This bloke is a serial 'victim' who will play whatever card (race, depression) he can to get the best outcome for Clarke Carlisle. Ralf Little is a DMB cunt but he is being unfairly chastised for pointing out that there is more to the Clarke Carlisle story than what is being printed in the red-tops. I hope Carlisle gets treatment for his illness but I also hope he gets hung out to dry at her majesty's pleasure. He deserves it. The point I'm making is that Ralf Little has implied that Carlisle tried to kill himself to avoid a charge and I don't agree. i think that there are easier ways then chucking yourself in front of a lorry. I'm not making any allowances for what Carlisle did, and FWIW I don't think his illness should have an impact on any sentence he may face.

Maybe his mental health issues impacted his rationale and affected his behaviour causing him to commit such crimes?
February 6, 201511 yr He didn't say that at all. He said "looks like he's going to get away with it...again" - he was referring to Carlisle's story about being depressed, not about the accident.
February 6, 201511 yr I read it as Carlisle plays the depression card to get out of situations Poor all round In my opinion (only) I feel he is using the depression card as a get out Edited February 6, 201511 yr by SalfordOriginal
February 6, 201511 yr Think what upset Ralph the most is selfish bastards comiting suicide ,he had an elder sister that died at age 14 on a family holiday,so clearly thinks life, family and friendship are precious commodities.
February 6, 201511 yr Maybe his mental health issues impacted his rationale and affected his behaviour causing him to commit such crimes? I understand that mental health can affect your decision making but all I've heard from Carlisle is about his depression. No remorse for his actions prior to his suicide attempt or any apology to the poor driver who was dragged in to his suicide attempt. I just think he's using his illness, and the media, as a very poor excuse for his cuntish behaviour.
February 6, 201511 yr Sorry but who the fuck is Ralf Little to comment on mental health? Edited February 6, 201511 yr by clown
February 6, 201511 yr Maybe his mental health issues impacted his rationale and affected his behaviour causing him to commit such crimes? You and I would no doubt agree somebody abusing 4 year olds has mental issues Does that mean we should be understanding
February 6, 201511 yr Sorry but who the fuck is Ralf Little to comment on mental health? He's not claiming to be an authority on it is he? He's a no mark cunt but clearly people care what he says.
February 6, 201511 yr Always tough to judge anyone's actions if they are a depressive - which, after seeing the documentary about depression Clarke Carlisle made for the BBC, he clearly is. I suffer from it and am always interested to see how people react to suicide. Most people with no understanding of depression believe people should just 'get on with it' or 'buck up' as my mum used to say. Maybe Carlisle's driving around pissed was his way of getting on with it? When you are depressed the world is a different place where getting up for a piss can seem like Chinese maths. I'm not condoning Carlisle's actions in any way and I do think he's a bit of a twat honestly but I know depression when I see it. A lot of footballers, and us mere mortals, are left with a gaping whole in their lives when they are forced to stop doing what they love doing or at least used to doing. Just look at Gary Speed
February 6, 201511 yr if your child was killed by a drunk driver who was suffering from depression would this mean they should get a shorter sentence. Personally it's not looking good on Carlisle or little. However he needs help and he should be getting it. I don't even want to try and understand how bad it is to see suicide as an option but people need to take charge now. Get him sectioned and get him some help. Even sentence him to prison in a an environment he can be treated rather than a normal prison

February 6, 201511 yr Agreed - if you're suicidal you are a risk to you and everyone around you. My point was that people with depression are often forced to get on with life. He clearly needs to get better - whatever that entails

February 7, 201511 yr Working again and giving interviews.....surely he should be getting help. 6weeks can't be enough to get through depression surely?
February 7, 201511 yr Surprised at some of the attitudes on here after Speedo. Do people really think Carlisle threw himself under a lorry to avoid a drink drive charge or sell the story to a newspaper?
February 8, 201511 yr Surprised at some of the attitudes on here after Speedo. Do people really think Carlisle threw himself under a lorry to avoid a drink drive charge or sell the story to a newspaper? I am going with no. Most on here know that's not the case. The question is why is he not receiving proper help. Surely he should still be being treated away from the limelight not interviews in the press

Surely he should still be being treated away from the limelight not interviews in the press So when a cancer sufferer does an interview with a newspaper, do you dismiss them as an attention seeker who should be getting treatment rather than speaking to a journalist?
February 8, 201511 yr So when a cancer sufferer does an interview with a newspaper, do you dismiss them as an attention seeker who should be getting treatment rather than speaking to a journalist? With due respect, Cheese, cancer isn't the same as mental illness
February 8, 201511 yr With due respect, Cheese, cancer isn't the same as mental illness Tell that to Gary Speed's kids. Maybe if Speedo had been open about his problems, he'd still be here now. It's exactly this "it's only a mental illness, it's not as serious as other diseases" attitude that makes it difficult for sufferers to discuss it.
