superjohnmcginlay Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Pardew to Palace Irvine sacked Quote
anewman Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Why would pardew leave Newcastle for palace?? Baffling Quote
chief wiggum Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Most Newcastle fans hate him, whatever he does is wrong. He's a palace legend. Probably will be glad to get out of it and back home to London Quote
Carlos Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Newcastle can just say no, if they want to keep him. Otherwise, time to go. Quote

Whites man Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Newcastle can just say no, if they want to keep him. Otherwise, time to go. I cannot think of one example of a player or a manager being made to serve out his contract when they want a move. Quote

Traf Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Steve Howey commenting on the situation on bbc news, oddly looking exactly like Ricky Gervais Gervais would have been a better centre half for us than Howey was. Quote
bolton in bedford Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 I hope Pardew does go. Done a reasonable job at Newcastle but being hounded out anyway. Newcastle fans think they know best. Hounded out Alladyce despite him giving them their best start for 20 odd years, called for Shearer to come in and he got them relegated. No wonder Ashley's trying to turn his attention to Rangers. Carlos Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 I cannot think of one example of a player or a manager being made to serve out his contract when they want a move. Did he want a move? All we know is Palace approached them and they'll let him go i.e. he's not wanted, despite being on a 5 year contract. Quote
Marc505 Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 haha yes he wasnt the best for us... did he play in that game immediatey before the Carling Cup Final, against City I think it was? Quote
BoltonPro15 Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Decent move for Pardew I reckon. A case of move on before he gets sacked. I know football fans are fickle but Newcastle fans are something else. Quote
Marc505 Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 I reckon he'll probably feel relieved to be out of the Newcastle goldfish bowl and back in the capital. Newcastle fans should be careful what they wish for! Quote
stevieb Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Coloccini being lined up as next geordie manager. Can't see that being a success Quote

Cheese Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 He has 5 years on his contract. A sacking would be quite nice for alan Never understood that 8 year extension they gave him. Absolutely bonkers. Quote
Breightmet Boy Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 He has 5 years on his contract. A sacking would be quite nice for alan That's what I'm thinking. Why leave a well paid 5yr contract for a 4yr one unless your gonna get a huge lob to leave? I personally wouldn't give two shiney shits what the fans thought If I was taking a huge wage home, he don't support em so what does it matter really? He'd be better off sacked and sunning it up in the Bahamas for a few years instead of managing Palace. Quote

Drew Peacock Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Mind you - Pardew is an absolute arsehole! Quote

SalfordOriginal Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Doesn't seem odd when Mike Ashley is involved... Cant see him ever paying high wages. The low wage he paid was probably offset by Pardew on the length of the contract he was signing... £500k for 8 years or £1m-£1.5m for 3 yearsGreat business model... unless you then need to get rid although on this occasion its worked out as now he will also bag compensation for losing a in contract manager Wouldn't be surprised to see McCoist get given the Newcastle job to save him the gardening leave wages he is currently paying via his Rangers connection Quote

Saving money and pissing off the Newcastle fans. Newcastle have also obtained a fee from Palace for releasing Pardew from his long contract. As you rightly suggest his pay was low as a balance for his longer term security. Maybe Ashley will find a way to ditch Newcastle and focus on Rangers, where he will have an easier regular passage into Europe (eventually). Quote
Guest Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Never understood that 8 year extension they gave him. Absolutely bonkers. I heard that he borrowed £lots off Ashley to repay gambling debts. Ashley gave him a long deal and he repays him out of his salary. Quote

I've heard that as well.....although why the fuck info like that would reach the public domain is beyond me, so it's probably absolute bollocks Quote
