Where To Holiday 2016

It's not a safety issue for me, I just don't like it.

Don't like it? It's not amazing but the folk seem friendly enough and food is decent.

Thinking of going to Bolton again this year. Any recommendations? Places to eat, things to see and do?

According to the Lonely Planet guide to Bolton. There are some good nights to be had, but it recommends actually telling people you're visiting prior to leaving.

Nabq. Not a fan myself as it is ridiculously overpriced for bog standard grub. But, the eldest likes looking at the memorabilia on the walls plus it makes a change half way through the holiday.

Come out of the Hard Rock and cross the road.

About 100yds down is a decent Indian, almost facing Metro supermarket.

Tell them Meeester Traf sent you.

I might just try that Trafster, thanks for the info.

No problem.

Went to HRC last November in Nabq, never again.

Felt quite bad spending more on a meal for a family than the average Egyptian earns in 6 months.

I'm not keen on touristy places, when there.

We normally stay at the Southern end of Sharm at Hadaba /Om El Seed.

It's a bit more "earthy" down that end and thee are some great cafe bars on the cliffs (Sadiki is the best), plus you're only 10 minutes or so on foot from the Old market, if you fancied a mooch around and a kebab.

We went to Egypt last summer for just a week and we had a brilliant time. We went to Hurghada, there were hardly any Brits in the hotel, it was mainly Egyptian tourists, who were vile, tons of Russians and quite a few Germans. We stayed at the Cleopatra Luxury resort in Makadi Bay, it wasn't cheap for Egypt, £700 each for the week, but the hotel, food, location etc was superb!

Went Makadi Bay in Nov. Really enjoyed it. Snorkelling for first time ever. Very addictive.

I did the snorkelling too, I used my underwater camera, I'd recommend the snorkelling to anybody going to Egypt.

they are giving holidays away to Sharm at present.

The only thing that ever changes with regard to pricing is the flight costs.

The hotels cost pretty much the same all year round, so any increase is generally always down to the airlines.

That said mid-April to mid-May is the cheapest time to go anywhere.

Not quite high season

Kids just gone back to school

ie the perfect time to go to Egypt if you've no kids of your own.

Just out of interest, who do you guys tend to book with for your holidays? The last couple of years I have booked mine with lowcostholidays, I've found them pretty good on both flights and accommodation costs.

Just booked a few days in cork. Stuff your Guinness, this lad's on the Murphys.

Always book your flights directly with the airline, once you've found the best price via skyscanner and then I use a whole host of various accom sites to find the best deal.

Mind you, I do "work" from home on the internet and have far too much time on my hands.

How do you arrange your transport from the airport to your hotel Traf?

How do you arrange your transport from the airport to your hotel Traf?

walk outside and shout "Taxi"

Cornwall for Easter, sharm end of May and mates villa near Marbella in September.

Been Egypt few times now but this is first time without going with a main operator and we're saving a grand or so.

Traf simply catches a camel and rides it to his hotel.

Trivago is always a decent starting point for hotels.

And try using a combination of Quidco/Cashback and a regular hotel site - I used Hotels.com - that way I generate loyalty and get freebie nights now and then.

Transfers - either train, bus, taxi - again use Tripadvisor and there's usually someone had to do the same trip.

I recommended to them to Big E for his trip to Sharm.

Private car picks you up and takes you to your hotel directly.

Picks you up on last day at a previously agreed time and takes you back to airport.

All for around £18 return per car.

If there's more than 4 of you, they send a minivan type thing for £36 return.
