Blondi Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I want to take the Mrs to Rome for a few nights in either April or May. Can anybody recommend a nice hotel, preferably a 4 star, that is centrally located and near to all the attractions? I was thinking about spending up to £750 for 4 nights B&B for flights & hotel. HazzyinBolton Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I'm going on a freebie through work in May, flying out to Venice then on a 4 day cruise stopping at Dubrovnik, Hvar & Kotor. Got the option of some day trips in these places - Anybody been before & got any suggestions. Stag do in Barcelona first in March - El Classico! Fuerteventura in August. Quote
Big City Girl Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I'm looking at a 4/5 day break in April with my mate. Assuming the only places warm are Canaries, Morocco, Cape Verde, T'Egypt and Dubai? Think the last two might be a bit far for a few days. Any more for any more? I reckon Spain will only be starting to get warm. Quote

no balls Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 canaries is 4 hour flight, Dubai is 7. And you get free drinks and films And a quick turnaround in the airport to your hotel usually. 4/5 days is ok for a dubai break imo, I've done it. It just depends what you want to do. If a bit of culchar is wanted, Morocco would be a better bet. Quote
Smiley Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Nowt to do in Cape Verde other than sunbathe. Marrakech is ace!!!! Kotor has a great walled old town that's worth mooching around. Stunning scenery around there. Whilst Hvar has elevated views from the castle at the top with plenty of meandering streets with bars & restaurants. Nice promenade area too. Dubrovnik is tip top. Again plenty of mooching around the old town to do. Hole in the wall bar for views out to the sea. Quote

Those 'cruise ships' aka giant blocks of flats & their occupants totally take over the towns that they're visiting. Places are much nicer when they're gone. Quote
Smiley Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I thought that there was some decent diving? Not a diver. Sea was all red flags when we went. Did a boat trip and saw whales though and a shipwreck by the beach. Still loved the place - very chilled out. Quote
