And these clubs still lose money

The only way they won't is if they reduce wages

Then they don't get the players

Wages aren't coming down

Tickets aren't coming down

Aye

£35 for tickets at Hull v Villa last night

That's ridiculous for a Tuesday night match between two shit teams

The Worlds gone mad & the knock on effects is another nail in the coffin of Football as we know it.

  • A lot on here suddenly become socialists when it comes to redistributing the Premier League's money.

Are ticket prices that bad in the premier league? Attendances keep increasing, so fans must be happy paying the price.

You could build 1500 new 3g pitches per year if the premier league put aside a very small percentage for a legacy fund.

we might be getting to a point where the clubs can do something about wages

there comes a point when players cant get better deals elsewhere

id guess most of the highest paid 500 players in the world are in the prem

should that not reduce the pressure on clubs to keep upping wages?

but

even if it does, it would be naive to think the folks who own the clubs wont be looking for something back on their investments

so theyll be having first call on any profits

3G is shit it's all about iPItch

I'd guess people at bankrolled clubs like PSG are amongst the top earners, the level we will dominate is the average 100-500 range where twats like SWP will be in there.

why will it be half empty?

22 of the highest paid players in the world will be on the pitch

So why do City have to offer incentives to get people to turn out for a vital Champions League game?

i thought we were talking about a prenmier league game between swansea and bournemouth

as an aside, you can pay 100 quid to get on the waiting list to be offered a city season ticket for next season, if you like

I don't even know why you're asking the question then. If people can save a few quid by watching the occasional game on telly, they'll give the less attractive fixtures a miss.

I don't know what City charge for season tickets but if they're struggling to sell out Champions league games it suggests that their supporters are already picking and choosing their games, based on what's available on live telly.

If they weren't competing at the top end of the Premier League, it would probably be the Premier League games they were picking and choosing between. I don't remember them selling out their stadium that regularly before the Arabs turned up.

I have neither.

They're not moaning about the investment, just that none of it finds it's way back to the fans.

Let's see how attractive the 'product' is when there's a half empty stadium watching Swansea take on Bournemouth.

that would probably suit sky as most would probably instead be at home watching it on sky

more viewers = more advertising revenue

as an aside

Accrington Stanley tweeted that the deal works out at £10M a game, which would pay their annual wage bill for the next 20 years

do we know what sky make from subscriptions?

we know they need football but can they afford to have it

we know they cant afford not to have it

my bro (not the one on here, another one) worked for them doing high level database consultancy shit and that on which they collate viewing, marketing and advertising data etc

all the money is in advertising regards the sports, the subscriptions are only a very small part of the revenue

obviously the more people they have watching the more they can charge for ad space - as well as on ssn and all that

which is why, i believe, they are always be happy to give you a deal or knock money off to keep hold of you, the subscription pricing doesn't matter so much

i pay £5.95 a month for all my streaming purposes, fuck em

I think this is a bit beyond Sky's means.

They will now need to charge much higher prices for ad slots for the Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool & Arsenal games.

The Swansea/West Brom type games will still be touted around for fuck all.

Eventually, the advertisers just won't cough up.

Give it a few years, but I think they may be struggling.

Some financial expert bloke on the radio said the same thing this morning

Reckons Sky have paid over the odds because they can't be seen to lose their 'product' to BT

So as a result they will be making cut backs in other areas to finance it

Think they also said Sky's share price has fallen on the back of it

Advertising revenue not critical to Sky, it's all about subscription.

With all the money that's flying about in football, there is no excuse for every medium to large town in the land not having decent pitches for the kids to play on.

A lot on here suddenly become socialists when it comes to redistributing the Premier League's money.

They recon 3b of it will go to HMRC in players PAYE tax deductions over the 3 year period (including the foreign part) so no bad thing

Anyway, it won't last forever, the Internet will do for it as it did the music industry and is currently doing to the film industry

Danny G can't understand why folk pay for sky when they can just use on of his dodgy boxes and watch it all for free

The breakthrough will come when someone can explain in simple terms how these bloody dodgy boxes work. As it stands they might as well be Enigma machines.

I "heard" that some streams on the weekend are now that good that chrome casting onto a large flat screen is not far off HD quality. All Premier league sat 3pm KO are screened plus a couple of Championship and some scotch. As I said if thats the case why pay?

You heard right.

Apparently Danny G (conspiracy theorist extraordinaire) is an expert on how to get the best out of the service.

He is the all seeing, all knowing expert on such matters

You lost me at streams

I'll stick with sky and carry on moaning about the death of Ceefax

HAppen they simply can't afford the extra games?

3G or not, it could certainly improve facilities at clubs down to Turton's & Eagley's level and below so that young grass-roots players could be brought through - forming a better quality & broader base for the Prem to rest on.
