MickyD Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I thought the away allocation at wigan was 4600 / 4800? We have sold 3600. Think it's already been discussed. The 4800 is for the full end. Apparently they leave the rest empty for segregation reasons although 1000 empty seats takes the piss a bit Quote
burnden Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Ah right , this away fans guide has got it as holding 5500 but restricted to 4800 http://footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/championship/dw-stadium-wigan-athletic-fc.html#awhat-is-it-like-for-away-supporters Quote
MickyD Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 In that case maybe they're lying about either size of stand or tickets sold. The area under that stand has got to be the most claustrophobic shithole I've ever been in when it is full. Quote
no balls Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Are they serving ale in the ground, does anyone know? Quote
ex_midlandwhite Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I can't think of a time I've ever looked at form for a fixture and both sides are six losses. On the attendance side I think Leeds had 4800 so think we could sell up to that many if we were in better form. Quote
MickyD Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Are they serving ale in the ground, does anyone know? Only the first dozen in the queue can get near the bar anyway. Quote
no balls Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Only the first dozen in the queue can get near the bar anyway. that doesn't answer my question Quote
MickyD Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 They have served alcohol in the past but that doesn't answer your question either but historical anecdotes is as much as I can offer. Quote
Matt Lofthouse Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 The area under that stand has got to be the most claustrophobic shithole I've ever been in when it is full. That'll be Burnley for me. Fucking dump. Quote
Blondi Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I certainly won't be bothering queuing up for ale at Wigan. You'd end up missing half the game for a pint of shit ale, no thanks! Quote
bwdavefc Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I got tickets online yesterday. I'm sure the blurb on the site said we had an allocation of 4,228. Makes around 600 left. Quote
Adlington White Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I thought the away allocation at wigan was 4600 / 4800? We have sold 3600. Sure this year it was said at ticket office allocation was 4250 or something this year Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) Reckon I can probably end all of the debate of the above. The stand has 5,400 seats but, because of the inadequately sized concourse (it was originally designed as a family stand and therefore not pisscan friendly), generally a maximum of 4,800 is allowed in. Middlesbrough had 5,000 earlier in the season but that doesn't look like it'll be repeated again going by Leeds having 4,800 the other week. Although we've 'only' sold 3,600 so far, you can expect that to go up another few hundred tomorrow by which case you're left with a scenario of maybe 800 spaces available for pay on the day. With 600 paying on the night at Blackburn when it's a midweek night and £6 more expensive then it's fair to say only having 800 spaces leaves little room for maneouvre on the day and a potential situation of running out of spaces before kick off with people still outside. Given how the police are treating this game, there's no way there'd go along with that, although I do hear alcohol will be available in our end at it stands. Obviously a load of ballooning before the game might change that situation though. Edited March 19, 2015 by Leyther_Matt Quote
Traf Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 And will it be difficult to enter a different section? Quote
Horwich Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 They are restricting away tickets so their acerage attendance stays below 10000 Something to do with tax Quote
big gal Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I've got 2 tickets in home end and was hoping to move into our end so I hope we don't sell out Quote
Tyldesley White Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 2-1 win Le Fondre and a Eidur penalty 3,742 making the trip 'We'll never play you again' Quote
jturner Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) Wigan's home record is rank awful, two wins all season but id still settle for a draw before the match starts.I think they'll beat what Lennon is having to work with and at the end of the day Rotherham will go down with Blackpool and Millwall Edited March 20, 2015 by jturner Quote
