Qatar World Cup

No surprises there then.

You must be enjoying this complete and utter shit show involving everything it seems but the football. FIFA has been a den of iniquity ever since they removed Sir Stanley. If he, or someone like him, was at the helm right now, all questions of a political nature would be blanked with "We are here to play football, nothing more nothing less. If you want to discuss politics go and find politicians". Of course there is no way a World Cup would be starting in November in Qatar if the right leadership had been in place.

Infantino has shown himself to be a petulant child who should never have been anywhere near the position he holds. Amnesty International poking their oar in. The alphabet mob whingeing. Beer bans.

All we need now is some of your cuntish lot gluing themselves to camels and we'll have the full set.

Roll on 2026 and hopefully a return to some sort of sanity.

I wouldn’t disagree with much in this post Bolty.

Politics however is everywhere, always has been. Sport has never been immune, there are many fans who don’t want political regimes such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar etc. ruining the sport… No faux outrage there, just comes from a love of the game.

Welcomed with open arms I’m sure 😂 do the public have a choice? Heard the royals were well received in Jamaica ❤️

Faslane up in Scotland, doesn’t mean it’s welcome.

WTF? I’m guessing the wine gums are going down a treat.

Anyway, it looks like it's going ahead, much as I wished it wasn't.

So, as per interesting football news France's Karim Benzama is out of the tournament with an injury.

Couldn’t agree more with that last bit👍it’s not on the players and they shouldn’t be brought into it now. It’s a brutal journey to the top and they’ve every right to ignore the politics and embrace the opportunity.

NGOs have every right to voice their views. Even if they didn’t get it switched, compensation for the families is an achievement in itself. Would it not also be an achievement if it impacted future decisions?

Ignore the politics when it suits them you mean?

Benzema, Kante & Pogba

Can't have France at all

Semis minium for England possible

Good news for us hopefully

No offence intended Bolty ❤️ But you display more outrage than anyone on here.

 Yes but, is it 'faux', genuine or firestarting? I'll let you ponder.

That fucking Hitler started it in 1936. Politics out of sport.

I do like optimism. How are our results looking from our last 6 or 7 games?

Beat Iran and Wales and I'll be happy.

Southgate should look at Tite as a role model. Football first, football last and nothing else in between.

Why not USA then?

It's pretty simple. Political decisions affect every single person on the planet. They affect people in some countries more than they do in others, but they affect everyone one way or another. Footballers are people. If they want to use their platform to draw attention to a cause, they should have every right to do so. If they don't want to, they have every right not to. It's very odd that a lot of today's "Free Speech" warriors think footballers should just shut up.

OK, I've tried.

What or who is 'the Tite' ?

Maybe, but that should have been by not turning up. Actually going but then shouting words over a fence, or wearing signifying armbands & laces is bllx.

It's a little like accepting an invitation to a house party but then not flushing the loo as a protest because you don't like the host's menu.

It's not though is it. None of the players from any country have been "invited" to Qatar. They've qualified for the World Cup by doing their job.

They either have principles, or they don't. You can't have 'a bit of principle'.

If a vegan goes to a BBQ don't piss & moan coz there's meat being served.

Another nonsensical analogy.

Trying to work up some enthusiasm by having a whole pound on Ecuador to beat Qatar

Anyway looking forward to the start of the WC

Just read that there’s a comedian called Joe Lycett who’s  going to shred 10k if Beckham doesn’t pull out of his multi million pound deal with Qatar 🙄

The aim of the stunt is to get people talking about the issue. Which you are. And you didn't even know who he was beforehand. So it's worked.
